Plot:
Cold Sky - Common burmese slang non-atmospheric space used particularly among sailors and other space faring peoples.
The Terran Collective, with hundreds of inhabited worlds, and thousands of space stations, is home to billions of humans, and countless artificial lifeforms (collectively called kybers). A massive and diverse civilization in the Milky Way galaxy, once brimming with prosperity, The Terran Collective now teeters on the brink of collapse as it struggles amid an energy crisis that threatens to plunge the galaxy into darkness.
Desperate, and on the verge of running out of fuel, Captain Sayavong and the crew of the TCR Charlemagne take on a suspicious haul job from a dangerous client, the Provac Alliance – one of The Nine Fathers, powerful corporations and organizations whose influence spans star systems. Of course, the plan IMMEDIATELY falls apart, and they are ambushed in deep space. In the ensuing firefight, the Charlemagne is critically damaged, and Anaka, the ship’s Protocol Officer, is lost to the vacuum of space.
Meanwhile, Killagan Kazonga, Mensa of the Torajan-Fang Corporation (another of The Nine Fathers), is awakened from cryostasis. He has been asleep for 80 years (following the death of his wife), but a discovery out in Cold Sky has triggered his revival protocols. Now, he has work to do to restore his corporate name and take revenge on his enemies.
Terra Tonight is a 3-page mini comic featured in issue 1 of Cold Sky. An in-universe TV program, Terra Tonight adds background and world-building to the experience of Cold Sky.
