Torn from Earth and remade by alien science, Futura fights across the stars to reclaim her freedom, and reshape her destiny…
Marcia Reynolds, a second-grade technical secretary from Titan City on Earth, becomes the unwilling protagonist in an interstellar epic. Abducted by the alien Brain Lords led by Mentor, she is transported to Cymradia, a city in space, to serve as a test subject in a bid to repopulate Mentor’s planet. The Brain Lords saw something special in Marcia, bestowing her with abilities and naming her Futura! Futura escapes Cymradia by sparking a revolt, testing her newfound powers against her alien captors.
Although every strip is credited to John Douglas, a Planet Comics house pseudonym, Futura was originated by fine pulp artist Chester Martin! Having spent much of his time working on the gorgeous line art one-pagers that introduce golden age stories, full of detail not found in the rest of the strip, Chester then tried his hand at full story, while keeping that illustrative detail that was so rare in the comics of the time. The result was Futura!
