All desktop apps stopped auto-populating the barcode field when using CLZ Scanner to add items

It had been working fine. However, a few days ago, I noticed that I have to switch tabs in CLZ Scanner off of “by [barcode]” and then back to it in order for it to populate the barcode field and perform the search. Not sure what happened. I’ve tried reinstalling CLZ Scanner on my Android phone, but it’s still not working as before.

Also, it’s no longer clearing the item in CLZ Scanner after I add it in the desktop app. I have to manually delete it from CLZ Scanner.

Do you still have your old Windows version’s “Add Screen” in “queue mode”?

Can you show me a screenshot of one of your Add screens while the scanner is connected?

I think it’s in queue mode.

Once I click another tab and then click the barcode tab, I get this…

Yeah this looks good, except that your CLZ Scanner icon top right doesn’t have a green circle (indicating it’s on).

Can you try to click menu “Tools > My CLZ Account”
Then click LOGIN and confirm.

Then, open CLZ Scanner on your phone
Then, open the Add Books screen on the ISBN tab. Do you see the CLZ Scanner icon top right highlight in green now?

If so, can you scan 1 ISBN?

Hm I see you replied again.

It seems the connection to our server from your program is.. hicking up. That is strange.

It should “always show in green”, the CLZ Scanner icon top right if the CLZ Scanner app is open on your phone.

Did you recently get a new computer? Do you run any firewall programs that are not standard Windows?

Not showing a green circle. I haven’t changed computers or firewalls.

But: do you use a 3rd party firewall at all?
Those can act up to sever connections our software needs.

Do you keep your CLZ Scanner app open when you scan a book? Do you see the green dot there?

Also: is there any chance you are willing to move to CLZ Web for your apps?

No 3rd party firewall. Just Windows. Yes, I keep the CLZ Scanner app open when scanning. I don’t see a green dot. Where would it be?

I’d really prefer to keep the desktop apps as my internet connection is sometimes flaky, and I also like to work offline sometimes when I’m away from home.

Like I said, it’s been fine for a long time…until now.

Here’s a screenshot from the phone…

Actually, now that I look closely, there is a small green dot in the upper right corner on the phone screen. When I pull it down and touch it, I see that it’s being used by CLZ scanner.

Should I try uninstalling/reinstalling all of the desktop apps, or is there a repair function? Could I just reinstall over the existing apps without uninstalling first?

Odd. When I click on the barcode icon in the upper right, I see the green circle. But I’m already logged in.

Your last screenshot is good, the green dot top right on the icon.

On the phone however, I do not see a green dot (it only appears when both add screen AND clz scanner are active.

When BOTH are green, that is when they can “talk to each other”. Is that something you can achieve?

The green dot on the “Add” screen disappears when I close that QR code window. And the green dot is not appearing at all on the scanner app. They must be communicating, though, as it does populate the Add screen when I switch tabs. It’s just not happening automatically anymore. Strange.
I guess I’m stuck.

To compare, I installed Game Collector on my desktop computer (I have always used my laptop up to now) and CLZ Scanner app on my Android tablet (as opposed to my phone). It behaves exactly the same way as I’ve described above.

So the problem is happening on BOTH the laptop and the computer in exactly the same way?

We have found a problem in the Android version. We’re fixing it now, and I will keep you posted!

Yes, it is happening on both. Thanks for the update!
