I have two issues to report regarding the use of bar code scanning.

First, when using a bar code scanner that outputs data in EAN13+5 format (for example “759606054589 08021”) the application fails to process the bar code correctly because of the space. If you could just replace all spaces from the input string prior to searching that would solve the problem and open the application up to work with all modern bar code scanners.

Second, when adding multiple books with the same barcode via the web UI repeated barcodes are ignored in each batch. This is a bug. If I am scanning a group of comics in and there happens to be multiple books with the same barcode I need them all to register as new adds in the batch. The desktop software works correctly. The web needs this fix.

Yes, that sounds like a good improvement.
In the meantime, maybe your scanner can be configured to leave out the space?

That is by design actually. It is to prevent the scanner accidentally picking up the same comic multiple times.

@CLZ_Alwin Thanks for the quick reply.

I usually do configure the scanners to prevent spaces before the supplemental, but all the new RoHS series 1D/2D scanners produced since 2025 no longer accept the configuration barcode (A87781) that removes them.

As the “prevent multiples” behavior is by design, I would greatly appreciate it if you would add a configuration toggle for guys like me who add multiple copies of the same issue. It is a real pain to have to be adding a bunch of books from ten feet away and then have to stop and keep coming back to process them all just so I can start fresh to add a second (or third) copy. It is something that will forever lock me into the desktop software as I get multiples of some books every week…
