Broken links

Hi, I have 3000+ albums which have migrated to the Web version from the desktop version. They all seem to have a link called “Music collector connect” or “Core for music” which must have come across from the desktop database. These are all broken links now and I’ve been deleting them one by one as I come across them. Is there a way to remove them in bulk? Or to repair the broken links? Thanks!

@jayvee59 sorry it took a while to respond! So those links were originally added on Windows indeed, and they are old and perhaps broken.

There is no way to modify the Links field when using “Edit Multiple”. But if you want I could remove all links for all albums for you - if you’ve never used the field - that could be a solution.

Is that something that would work for you?

And do you use the mobile app as well?

Thanks for offering this solution, AJ. Unfortunately, many of the links are ones I want to keep, eg. links to the Discogs and Allmusic sites, so I don’t think that a blanket removal of all links would work for me. I will just continue deleting the old links to Amazon, Core and Connect manually as I come across them. Regards, Jeffrey.

How many albums do you have? I might be able to ask our developers do remove everything “starting with” or something, in your collection. Might be a week before I can do that though.

AJ, that would be excellent if your developers were able to do that. The links to be removed start with these strings:

I have 3107 albums.

@jayvee59 can you please make sure you are in sync on all sides (mobile app, all devices, and I noticed you also still used the Windows version today) - and refrain from making any changes at all so we can modify your database? Otherwise our changes won’t sync to your other devices.

Let me know once you’re ready for us to make the changes.

@jayvee59 we’ve just removed the bad links for you, and you should be able to sync to get the changes on all your devices! Can you give it a go and see if it’s good now as well?

@CLZ_AJ thanks, the web version is looking good now, but when I go to my mobile and desktop versions there is nothing to sync.

You should be able to sync now and it should give you a big sync on all devices (all albums, but for albums where we didn’t remove links nothing will happen, so no worries) .

Do them one by one and see if that fixes the problem!

The syncing to desktop and mobile worked perfectly and was beautiful to watch. I now have a nice, uncluttered database! Thank you @CLZ_AJ and your colleagues for your help. I really appreciate your efforts!
