After excessive use of the new web app and the mobile app I have one request.
Could you make it that the three fields LCCN, LCC and Dewey have the same position. I’m not sure which is better LCCN and LCC together (web) or LCC the big field at the bottom (mobile).
I personally prefer the mobile placement, don’t ask how often I put the LCC in the Dewey field in web the last few days, but I understand having the LC fields together, than just making the Dewey field smaller in the web app would help (me) to not assume it’s for the longest entry aka LCC.
I understand where you’re coming from, looking at mobile.
LCCN is usually the longer one, LCC usually shorter
Dewey is usally quite short too.
If Dewey would become 50 percent width of what it is right now on Web, would that help you enough? We could also move it to the top.
We also have some plans for Dewey right now, to show what the Dewey that is filled in “means”, so it’s up for a change on both Mobile and Web anyway.
Hey, if you will change it in the foreseeable future, adjusting Dewey to show what it means, then I’m 100% here for it. That would probably make this problem go away quite nicely. And yes, just making the Dewey field 50% shorter would help.
Best regards
Marina
P.S. Just to make sure we only got the abbreviations mixed up, quoting Wikipedia and the library of congress website:
Library of Congress Control Number: LCCN
Library of Congress Classification: LCC
Pretty sure you’re system uses it that way (see Screenshots) which lead me to say the LCC is longer than LCCN.
