I’ll try to explain my problem as best as possible:
I’m from Greece and a great part of my collection is greek movies. As IMDB information is mostly limited or plainly wrong, I prefer to add these movies manually or create custom lists for cast and crew. Since CLZ Movies Web supports greek characters, I write this info with greek characters, by going to “custom cast”, then “add actor” and then “Can’t find the right person? Add your own.” I mean, I actually can do this without problem, right? However, I’ve noticed that some entries are shown kind of differently. An example: I’ve entered manually “Αλέκος Σακελλάριος” as a director, but it is shown all capitals, “ΑΛΕΚΟΣ ΣΑΚΕΛΛΑΡΙΟΣ”. Another example: my entry for actor “Τζαβαλάς Καρούσος” is shown as “Τζαβάλας Καρούσος” (the dot that shows the word stress is on a different letter). Since I add these entries manually I can’t understand how they can be modified all by themseves and what causes this modification. I tried going to “Manage Pick Lists” and edit my entries but, although it shows that my edits are saved, the entry remains unchanged. Is this some kind of glitch or I try to use CLZ Movies Web in ways that are not supported?
I really don’t want to diminish your great work in CLZ Movies Web but as an old user of your Movie Collectorz software, it was pretty amazing to be able to add data the way I wished. From the moment the personal name lists disappeared because the names correspondend to an external database, problems arised. It actually became harder to make sure that the names are correct, like selecting the right Tom Holland between 10 different names (just an example) or double entries in “Maggie Smith” and “Dame Maggie Smith” (again, just an example to express my thought).
I understand that you want to provide the best and easiest experience for your users but making everything automatic isn’t always the best choice. We’re not using your products for work, we’re collecting movies, it’s a hobby, creating our collection with your apps is fun. It’s great that we can press a button and have everything ready, but we should be able to add everything manually if that’s what we wish, without linking our entries, if we want to customise stuff for our own personal use. Trying to add films and names from non-english speaking countries to correspond with IMDB, an english speaking site, isn’t always practical. Again, you’re doing a great work but the extreme automisation actually makes me spend less and less time on CLZ because it’s no fun anymore and at times I can’t do what I could in the past.
