Custom fields can be exported to Music Collector?
There is no syncing of Custom Fields to the old legacy Music Collector windows software.
Custom Fields created in the mobile app, or on web, can only sync between mobile and web.
Wow! When are you going to implement CLZ web to be able to adapt it to the needs of a classical music library?
Currently we don’t have plans in that direction. But can I ask about your situation?
Did you create custom fields to help you catalog your classical music library on CLZ Music Web?
Or on Mobile?
Or do you currently have “User Defined Fields” on Music Collector Windows?
We have a 1-time import available from Music Collector > to > CLZ Music Web, for users who are looking to switch completely from the Web version to the Windows version.
So in short, what do you have where, and what would be your end goal?
I’m sorry to hear that. My problem with CLZ Music Web is that I can’t sort the compositions and sort them by opus, date… so that you can create an information base that allows you to locate the different versions of the same composition. I already tried it with Music Web but it doesn’t work to organize my disco. I miss that implementation that I think is necessary for any fan of the classic. A shame
I have started using the fields defined by the user, but since I can’t synchronize them with Music Collector I don’t know if I will continue

You can of course enter “Composition” in CLZ Music Web, and you can even group your albums on composition, so any album with the same composition name attached to it, will show up then - would that work for you? Or is that not enough?
User Defined Fields/Custom Fields:
You can get User Defined Fields from Music Collector to CLZ Web with a one-time import.. but I thought you were asking if you could get custom fields from CLZ Web > to > Music Collector.
If you’re looking to get them from Windows to Web, that is possible with a one-time export - I can send you instructions for that - but I’m not sure if that’s what you’re asking?
In classical music, many compositions are uncatalogued, so their descriptions can overlap for several composers. For example, how can I distinguish between Symphony No. 1 by Copland, Lutosławski, and Rawsthorne if none of them are catalogued? I would have to create a separate entry for each composition, including the composer’s name.
If they are catalogued, how can I organize them if everything is in the same entry? I can only sort alphabetically based on the composition’s entry, not by opus number.
I’d like to switch to Music Web, but unless I’m mistaken, my current record collection would become a chaotic mess of information that I wouldn’t be able to organize for reference. Excuse my ignorance, but is it really that difficult for the application to allow creating a database where compositions can be grouped by composer, title, and classification?

I’m sorry that’s the answer. I would have appreciated an explanation as to why that option wasn’t included, but it’s not the same. Thank you.
I could dive into history about which fields were chosen when, and that we later updated web with more classical fields (the ones that are there now).
Composition is indeed there, as a field, but it has no “subfields inside”. It just never made the cut, same as for instance “subtracks” in the tracks tab.
I had similar experience with classical music. Some time ago I wrote this post. Maybe it is of some interest to you.
Thank you for the information. I don’t know if I will get lost with the change, but I will try again although I hope that one day they will reconsider the option of including subfields that allow a better classification. Anyway, it’s what it is.
