Default Sort Name for existing Musicians is inconsistent

When I sort solo albums by Artist, some existing names are sorted lastname, firstname; while others are sorted firstname lastname. There is no consistent basis for this.

I see I can “Manage Artist Names” myself, but why do I have to correct a very basic flaw?

Is it reasonable to request that you do a database overhaul that converts all solo artist names to the convention of lastname, firstname? Otherwise all your users have to personally fix the problem, which seems like a huge waste of time for everybody.

Or is this somehow a relic inherited from the CLZ mobile app?

We did that “overhaul” last year. Most artists should now have the correct artist sort names by default.

Maybe you added most of them BEFORE that overhaul?

That’s probable.

On a separate topic, I was surprised to find that a few popular artists (like Billy Joel) weren’t in the pick list of Artists? Is he really not in the Core database Artist field or am I overlooking something? His albums are certainly there.
