Are there any plans to speed up the export to a text file? Up until now, I’ve exported my collection using the Collectorz app. ~23,000 lines, 47 columns. It takes less than a second.
However, when I’m doing a semilar export using the web app (same lines, 35 columns), it takes a whopping 4 minutes to generate the file.
I’m happy with the columns I have at the moment and don’t really have to deselect any if I can help it
I want to take advantage of the upcoming new custom field, so I’m trying to wean myself off the app and use the web version as much as possible in preparation of that being added. Hopefully these fields can be exported too!
I understand I’m probably one of the only people to ever use this feature on a regular basis (I won’t bore you why) so it’s probably right down the pecking order of improvements.
Also, I suspect we’re no closer to being able to export tracklistings?

There are not.

That is quite long, but to be expected with 35 columns for 23371 albums being queried out of the online database (where the desktop version has everything loaded, at all times).
It could be one of your columns causing the most of this (length can be a long one as it needs to be calculated from all the tracks).
You could compare with 3 columns like Artist/Title/Release Year
(I won’t bore you why)
I’m thinking this is key for us to consider seeing if we can speed it up to be honest.

This is on the ideas list, we’ve internally discussed it a little bit last week, not sure why it is related to this question, or just to ask again..?
I didn’t really notice a lot of difference to be honest, it still took about 4 minutes
Ah, okay… never had to explain this before so apologies if it doesn’t make much sense, but I’m trying to convert every CD I have to MP3. A long laborious project, but one that’s infinitely easier with a barcode reader. Each MP3 rip has the barcode embedded in the ID3 tags.
I export the album list from CLZ, and an export a file list from MP3Tag, and I use the spreadsheet to marry the two together… A breif example:
Very similar reason to the above, as I also export the tracklistings into the same spreadsheet. I use it to verify different releases of the same CD.
Sometimes, I’d have a standard edition and a deluxe edition, or more usually, a CD1 and CD two of a single. Using the track listings export I can easily check to make sure I have the right barcode assigned to the right rip.
I’m sure I’ve explained all that terribly, though it genuinely all works very well in practise!
