I’m assuming that, for whatever reason, the cover image you’re trying to find wasn’t in the data you downloaded from CLZ Core. I’ve never had that happen to me, but it is possible. However, it does sometimes happen that I want a bigger or higher-quality image than the one CLZ supplies. (Note: I spent most of my working life in either technical-publications groups or corporate-communications departments, so I’m more finicky about image quality than most people are.)
In either case, the procedure I use to obtain a cover image usually begins with an Internet search using these keywords:
cover art / the author’s name / the book’s title / and sometimes the publisher, as shown on the title page
The size and quality of the images that you find using this method will vary immensely. When you find one that you like, save it to your device and then import it into the CLZ app. You can then, if you wish, delete the downloaded file.
The other approach, which is both more expensive and more laborious, is to scan the book cover, save the resulting image file to my computer, and then use image editing software to reduce the image to a reasonable size. I usually set the height to 1000 pixels while maintaining the proportions is the scanned image. (Reducing a too-big image almost always works better than enlarging one that’s too small.)
I almost always use lossless image formats when I save the scanned image. If I need a .mpg file, I always make sure the software I’m using is set to the highest available quality level before I save the file.
