[Fixed] Some DC key tweaks (again)

Some additional DC key tweaks to suggest

Batman Vol.2 #13 currently “Return Of The Joker”. I believe the Joker has returned so many times it really doesn’t justify Key status anymore.

Batman Vol.2 #40 currently “Death of Batman & The Joker”. I believe this has happened so many times and reversed immediately it really doesn’t justify Key status anymore. They literally came back next issue.

Batman Vol. 1 Annual #14, i believe “Origin Of Two Face retold” is a better description.

Batman Vol. 1 #410, again i believe “Origin Of Two Face retold” is a better description.

Batman Vol. 3 #44, i believe it should be a non key issue

Batman Vol. 3 #55 i believe it should be a non key issue as Batman now gets a new costume every once in a while and frankly, none is a major revamp

Batman Vol. 3 #95 same as above i believe it should be a non key issue as Batman now gets a new costume every once in a while and frankly, none is a major revamp

Batman Vol. 3 #103 i believe it should be a non key issue as the Batman vs Ghost Maker battle is frankly not that important.

Batman Vol. 3 #109 i believe it should be a non key issue as the Batman vs Peacemaker 01 battle is not that important.

Batman Vol. 3 #110 again, i believe it should be a non key issue as the Batman vs Peacemaker 01 battle is not that important.

Black Adam The Dark Age #1B, i believe “cover art by Alex Ross” should be added to the key reason as this is a sought after cover for Black Adam fans.

Convergence Nightwing Oracle #2, i believe should be non key as the Nightwing/Oracle marriage is outside regular continuity.

Dark Nights Death Metal Robin King #1, i believe should be non key as Robin King is not so big a character to justify “1st Solo Title” status

Dark Nights Death Metal The Secret Origin #1, i believe reason should be “Origin Of Superboy Prime retold” as this has been told before.

Future State Superman Worlds Of War #1, i believe reason should be “1st Appearance of Black Racer (Tanda)” as there are other Black Racers

Green Lantern Vol. 3 #54, i believe Controversial Issue should be added as this is the 1st “fridging’ in comics of a female character (and i hate the issue with a passion for that).

Wonder Girl vol. 2 #6, currently “1st cover app. Potira”, i think should be a non key as Potira is not such a prominent character.

Thanks for looking into these, i’ll do a pass through the other half of my collection when i have time for any additional suggestions.

Hi there, great list!

  • Batman Vol.2 #13: Removed
  • Batman Vol.2 #40: Removed
  • Batman Vol. 1 Annual #14: Is it a retelling of his origin or is it altered?
  • Batman Vol. 1 #410: Is it a retelling of his origin or is it altered?
  • Batman Vol. 3 #44: Removed
  • Batman Vol. 3 #55: Removed
  • Batman Vol. 3 #95 Keeping this one, unless it’s not a big difference style wise, they are fine to be removed. Wouldn’t say it happens that often too. But I guess something like an Absolute Batman can be considered a new suit/style as well so it might look like it happens often. This version is also the one that gets joker-ized later on which wasn’t done before in batman comics.
  • Batman Vol. 3 #103: Removed
  • Batman Vol. 3 #109: Removed
  • Batman Vol. 3 #110: Removed
  • Black Adam The Dark Age #1B: Added
  • Convergence Nightwing Oracle #2: Removed
  • Dark Nights Death Metal Robin King #1: Disagree with this one. If it’s a character that got his own #1 after his 1st appearance , it should be mentioned.
  • Dark Nights Death Metal The Secret Origin #1: Is it a retelling of his origin or is it altered?
  • Future State Superman Worlds Of War #1: Adjusted
  • Green Lantern Vol. 3 #54: Will get back to you on this one
  • Wonder Girl vol. 2 #6: Removed

Good questions.

I reread the issues to refresh and it seems that Annual #14 is the definitive post-Crisis origin story for Two-Face. It introduced significant psychological backstory for Harvey, including a history of childhood abuse by his father, which was not part of his original 1942 debut.

Batman #410 features a story where Batman and the second Robin (Jason Todd) fight Two-Face, who is targeting things based on the number two, and it highlights his connection to the death of Jason’s father. It doesn’t really change anything in his original story from Detective #66 though.

Reread this as well, the story flashes back to his Pre-Crisis life and explains his motivations (needing love and validation as a hero). It stays mostly close to the original story from DC Comics Presents #87.

Hope that helps you to decide.

Many thanks for looking into these and discussing further

Also happy to hear your thoughts on this one, calling it the first similar event in comics might be a bit too much (there were others before like Gwen Stacy), but it prompted Gail Simone to coin the “Women In Refrigerators” term for the first time (“fridging” colloquially), and it was (and still is) rather controversial as the death in this issue was played for shock value according to many people.
