More of a query than a fault, butr over the last few days, I’ve been adding custom fields to a few thousand albums using the web interface. When I go to sync in the mobile app, it syncs as expected, but it also appears to download a large amount of images too.
Not exactly why it’s doing this, as I certainly haven’t amended 383 images. Just wondering if this is by design?
Before I tried this as well as a CLZ Movies user, I first tried to find a movie where the image was out of sync with web. (You know I hardly use custom covers). So I found an entry where I still have the wrong default cover that was different from an updated default cover in web. Tried to add a value in web and then sync to mobile. Image was NOT downloaded. So it looks look this was not the cause.
I knew I still had 1 value a wanted to deleted. So I deleted a value from a pick list resulting in 2000+ updates. When syncing to mobile 18 images were downloaded. Looks like a similar issue as MercuryVapour is experiencing.
Also no mentioning of what covers are downloaded in the log window. Just 18/18 downloads in the progress bar for downloading images.
Edit: My guess would be: Somehow there are images out of sync that were missed previously during updates.
Alas, looks like I still have the same issue with the new version.
It seems I can reproduce this every time. I have a location “Upstairs Black bookcase Shelf 2’“, with 156 entries. I change the custom field ‘Rip status" in the web app. I go back to the mobile app and sync, it will always attempt to download 46 images.
Oddly this seems to only do this on my phone (Samsung S26 Ultra). I have a tablet which seems to be OK.
The only difference I can think of is that the version of the database on my tablet is much more “mature”, if you know what I mean., it’s had years of updates when I’ve only been using this phone for a couple of months.
I wonder if my phone has failed images where my tablet doesn’t?
EDIT: Bit the bullet and uninstalled on my phone. Thankfully, downloading 23,000 albums doesn’t take as long thanks to the new download method! I’ll repeat the above once the download is complete.
We’ve just made a copy of your database to one of our test accounts, with all your custom images, and we followed the exact same steps (adding a rip status to 156 entries with location Upstairs Black bookcase shelf 2).
The changes went down to the Android, but no images were re-downloaded to our Android
We’ve just done it again to a random other location, and again no images are re-downloaded to our own Android
How strange, so I wonder if it’s something peculiar with the S26 Ultra or a specific android version
I"m at work at the moment and a bit limited on what I can check, but I’m in the process of downloading the DB to my old phone (Huawei P30) and I’ll see if I can recreate it on that.
As suggested, I’ll also check these 156 albums to see if any front or back images are missing and put them into a spreadsheet if I spot any differences.Might be beneficial, might not, but it could help you spot a pattern with what’s happening.
That is strange. Would you okay with the following:
We could “change your password” and try to sync your collection down from YOUR account to our devices and see if we can reproduce the issue (we will be modifying rip status for the 156 entries on that shelf 2 location)
In that time (we can try tomorrow, I will notify you) you must not use your collection/make changes
When we’re done we’ve hopefully catched and reproduced the issue, and then we can see from there.
Thank you. We will do this tomorrow and I will tell you when we begin!
And the 156 entries, changing the rip status, is fine and change them to one thing? (you can put it back to something else for those 156 of course when we’re done
