It looks like there are two entries for Kendrick Lim in Core.
Kendrick ‘Kunkka’ Lim (correct, most common)
Kendrick Kunkka Lim (incorrect without the quotes, less common)
I noticed this when I was trying to correct my sort name in my pick list. Somehow it was even different: Lim, Kendrick Kunkka’
I was trying to fix the sort name in my pick list when I ran across all of this. Still having issues with that at the moment, will post an update when I get through undoing some of the things I just changed.

This one has 6 incorrect cover artists assigned, and none of them are correct (it should be Kunkka, of course). Also, the Artist field is listed as Lesley ‘Leirix’ Li, and I am pretty sure that is wrong as well: Red Sonja: Age of Chaos#4H
If I try and edit that sort name on the next creen (Edit Creator), it will then assign custom creators for every book that matches (every Kunkka book that I have). I don’t want that. All I want to do is fix the way the sort name is displayed. How do I do that???

Yes this will happen, and there’s nothing you can do about that as you actually modified a creater sortname that is normally in “our hands” to fix (and for you to automatically get updates for).
And even if I apply that change, the custom creator fields are correct, but the Sort name is still wrong. Even on my main screen…
In your main screen I’m seeing the sortname exactly as you filled it in in the “edit creator” screen. What am I missing?
@CLZ_Justin, all seem to be correct except the Die!Namite Lives!** #3S cover. No biggie.
@CLZ_AJ, that screenshot of the Edit Creator screen was showing that after I corrected the Sort name to contain a quote on both ends of the word ‘Kunkka’, it didn’t take and still shows the word missing the quote at the beginning. Apologies, I suppose I wasn’t clear as to what I was showing. (I was showing that my edit didn’t take).
I think from what you said is that the sort field for Kunkka with the one single quote at the end is what is in “your” hands, and I can’t correct it on my side. That’s fine. My OCD brain can live with it. The endgame is that changing the creator sort name appears to actually modify the creator, not just the sort field. I was just confused as it didn’t do what I was expecting, but now I know going forward.
