Matrix fields android music app

Hi,

I was thrilled to find I could add matrix numbers in dedicated fields in the app (alas, these field do not exist in the legacy software for windows). But, strangely enough, the content of these fields now also appear as part of the field that displays the album title and the duration (in non-edit mode)! Why is that?

And will these fields ever become available in the desktop version (ditto for Last Cleaned)

I don’t think the app and the desktop version should differ that much!

Kind regards,

Leo

The matrix number appears in the “disc header” - that also has the disc name. Usually, there is no disc name, but: the old legacy Windows version indeed used to put the “album title” as the disc title - so therefor I guess you’re seeing both.

I recommend not using album title as the disc name. You can edit this in the Edit Album screen on the tracks tab - just remove the album title from the “disc title” field. It shouldn’t be there. The album title should just be in the Title field on the general tab.

The Legacy Windows version does not and will not get these fields:
As for the Windows version: it will never get the matrix or last cleaned fields as we’ve stopped development on the Windows version a couple years ago. Have you considered switching your WINDOWS version >> to our modern CLZ Music Web software, for your browser?

CLZ Music Web is easier to use and easier to manage, while still giving you all features and customization options. It also has the matrix number and last cleaned fields, of course.
Also, CLZ Music Web is what all our development and support is focused on.

If you switch to CLZ Music Web with our Trade-In offer, we will trade-in your remaining Music Collector subscription days and will transfer them to CLZ Music Web, plus we will add 4 extra months for free.

Full details about the advantages of CLZ Music Web, and our Trade-In Offer can be found here:

I switched over to the cloud software, following all the instructions, but now I only have 147 albums in stead of 4100! What went wrong?

Oops! I didn’t check the ‘all’ box. They are all there. I’m not sure all the fields were transferred correctly, but will check…

I was just gonna suggest that when I checked your database I see them all

I had one ‘user defined field’ in my legacy database. These values have not been imported in a ‘custom field’ in the web version. It says: “You don’t have any costum fields yet.”

The data stored in thet field was the Discogs number for vinyl records. I also stored that info in a special field under Tracks | Edit | Personal, but I no longer see an option to edit the Tracks section.

There seems to exist a mysterious ‘Transfer field data’ screen, which I was hoping to use to copy the data form my Tracks screen to a new custom field. Both screens elude me at the moment.

Hi Leo,

To import user defined fields you have to follow these steps:
https://app.clz.com/music/import/onetimeimport

Note that only “ALBUM” level user defined fields can be imported.
If you created user defined fields on track level, those can not be imported.

Note that your Windows version has to be working to do this, so I’ve temporarily instated a working license for your Windows version.

As for editing tracks:
It’s more basic on web. You can only edit the fields you see in Edit Album > Tracks tab. track artist, track title, length.
You can also add headers.

If you used the personal tab of tracks on Windows, you might need to reverse your decision to move to web and stay with the desktop version. I can make that happen too if you need.

“Transfer Field Data” tool:
This sends data from ONE field to ANOTHER.

Thanks AJ, but I’ve decided to stay with the WEB version, however much I liked the Desktop software. But since that version is no longer being developed, it is likely that the two will become more and more different in the future. Hopefully the web version will include a more refined filter tool soon.

As to the non-imported User Defined Fields: There weren’t that many, so I won’t bother to reinstall legacy et cetera.

Cheers,

Leo

Good to hear that. Do let me know if I can help you with the fields that are there of course!
