When I opened my book database this morning I noticed that changes to Reading History, etc. which were expected for early 2026 have now been put in place. However, I found that the Read status of books that I have read, are now showing as “Not Read” in the list in the central pane. See attachment no 1. Yet in the details pane on the right, they are correctly showing as Read, together with the Last Read Date.
Here the Reading status shows as “Finished”, but the number of pages read shows as 0/268. I changed the Pages Read to 268/268 thinking that it might correct the Read Status. After saving the change, it did indeed change the status in the central panel list to “Read”. But, when I closed the database and then re-opened it, the Read Status had again changed to Not Read! Is there something else that I need to do??
And how do I change the “Pages Read” in the Read History” TAB to reflect the fact that all pages have been read?
There’s an issue with the “fill pages read” feature that I’d consider a bug. It apparently takes the number of pages from the (almost always incorrect) page count in Core. For every one of the nearly 3,000 physical books in my library, I manually check the book and correct the page count. If the user has set the page count, like I have, it should be using THAT number for pages read.
Yes, newly added Read Events do the correct (306/306) numbers. It’s the ones that were already resd when this feature was added. In my case. that’s nearly 500 books, which would be tedious to correct one-by-one, to put it mildly.
Yes, Thank you. The column READ does now show correctly. However, I have now stumbled on another problem which may be related to the column Read bug that you are trying to fix. To try to explain the new problem I have added a new book to my database titled “Test Book” with author “AAA AAAAAAA”. It is the 1st line in attachment 1.
In the edit/Read History Tab of the new book, I have set the Reading Status to Reading, the start date to 1/1/2025, the end date to 19/12/2025, and the pages read to 400/400, and saved changes.
In the left panel on attachment 1, I have selected Read/Author as the search folder. You can now see in the left panel that when I highlight No (15 books), in the center panel there are 16 books listed, including the new one with the Reading Status set to Reading. Thus, not read, if I understand it correctly.
When I highlight Yes (1275 books), the center panel in attachment 2 shows 1274 books listed.
What if you refresh the entire page after editing? Because I believe we do not refresh the folder panel etc. after an edit (never have).
What I’m trying to ask is: if you refresh, does the book sort itself in the right folder?
EDIT:
Yes, that is what is happening here.
The same would happen if you group by PUBLISHER, and have the Publisher column on, and then change the publisher in the edit screen. The number count top right will change, but the actual list/folder doesn’t. We are aware of this, but have not worked on a fix for this. (it is also an old bug that has been in there for a long time by the way, so nothing to do with Read status!)
Thank you for your response to my query. I was aware of the need to refresh pages after making some changes, but this has not been a problem for me. However, when I first across the problem posted, I did on many occasions refresh the entire page screen, and even closed and re-opened my database, as well as closing re-starting my MS Edge browser. But that did not solve the problem.
As the problem only occurs when I set the Reading Status of books to “Reading”, at this stage I have changed the Reading status of the first book back to “Finished”, and that solves the problem temporarily. At this stage, I have decided not to use the Reading Status of “Read” and to use some the Tag field to indicate which other books I wish to mark as been in process of reading.
Hopefully resolution of some of the other bugs may resolve the problem
Hi, CLZ-AJ. My apologies, I made an error in the 3rd line of the 2nd paragraph. That should read: "I have decided not to use the Reading Status of “Reading”. I do understand that the status has to be “Finished” for a read event to mark the book as “read: yes”.
That is why I cannot understand why when the Reading Status of the 1st book in my attachment is changed (and the page refreshed) to"Reading" (thus not read), the Read/Author group in the left panel shows the no. of books “Read: No” as 71 (thus not including the book set to Reading Status: Reading"). Surely it should be 72! , because the total at the top of the central panel correctly shows 72 books as “Read: no”, and there are physically 72 books listed (See attachments). How do we account for the 1 book set at “Reading”.
The same thing applies to the books marked as "Read: Yes (finished), but in reverse.
Perhaps you could also explain to me what the “Reading Status”: No Status is meant to be used for?
I still don’t understand the problem. I mean I see in your screenshot the NO folder says “71” and the amount of books counted top right is 72, that is wrong of course.
Sorry. After my post I was trying out a few things and adjusted the Reading History of the 1st book (“The Imitation of Christ”) to “Finished” not realising that you could access my Collection online. The reading History of that book is now set back to “Reading” to reflect the attachments on the previous post.
If you look at my collection again now you will be able to see that the No folder says 71 and the number of books counted as 72. And if you can look at my collection in more detail so you can see that the Reading History of the 1st book is now set at “Reading”.
@berend we’ve just uploaded some more fixes for CLZ Web, and the fixes included the one you reported last week. Can you give it another go and see if it displays correctly for you now as well?
