Pick list behaviour for custom fields

Hi there! Normally, it seems that a pick list item in CLZ web will be automatically removed when there are no more albums linked to it. This doesn’t seem to be happening with pick lists for custom fields however. “Orphaned” pick list items remain in the list and need to be manually deleted. Is this expected, or should pick list items for Custom Fields be like those in any other pick list? Or is there a tool, as in the Windows product, for selection and bulk-removal of unused headings? Thanks!

For Custom Fields we purposely made it retain unused pick list items (because during testing we found it was useful to create the pick list items before actually using them on albums). While we expected your question (you’re the first) to be able to have a button to remove all unused pick list items we did not build it on day one  it is on our to-do list.

For now you have to indeed manually remove them one by one.

Would you be okay with an option in Settings that just “removes all unused (custom field) pick list items”? Or would you want it in the Manage Pick List screen, and having to do them “per custom pick list field” you have?

Thanks for your reply @CLZ_AJ . I didn’t realise the pick lists for custom fields were intentionally set up this way. I thought I might have found a bug!

That’s amazing - I’m usually the last to notice these things

Agree - that’s what I do too when adding new albums on the Desktop version. Add any new artists, composers, musicians etc. before cataloguing the album, so they’re ready to use.

A non-problem really. Just sort the list by usage so the unused items file at the top. Or maybe just leave them?

For me, personally, I’d prefer it on the Manage Pick List Screen, rather than a blanket setting.

Hah, well it also confirms our planning was good enough to “leave this for now” and “just release the awesome feature”, so we’re both happy then!

Yeah I think that would work best in this case, as it only pertains to specific custom fields, so it’s more clear to do it in Manage Pick Lists, and see it happen.
