Hello. I am new to CLZ Books Web. I have imported > 1’000 books from Bookbuddy via .csv file with existing read dates but no Reader name. Can I add the Reader field to existing Read History entries in bulk without creating duplicate entries or overwriting existing dates? This is important to me as I want to add a second Read History for my wife afterwards. Thank you very much for your advice.
It is not possible to add a reader to existing read dates… There is no bulk editing there I’m afraid.
- but: when you edit a book and go to the Read History tab, do you see a reader filled in?
Like: “me” ?
Because if you do have that, THEN it’s possible (using Manage Pick Lists, then go into Reader list, changing “me” to your name.
Thank you for your feedback. It is possible to add a reader to existing read dates…I can do this manually book by book. When I open the Read History I have a value in the Finish Date field but no Entry in the Reader Field. I am able to manually select a value from the Pick List.
I’m afraid that it is not possible to set a reader for all your read events via bulk edit - but I might be able to ask one of our programmers here to just do it for you for this time only. Which name would you like to have for all read events, and do I have your permission to do this for you?

I am sorry for the late response as I was working abroad and did not have sufficient time to review the topic and have a backup file generated in the first instance.
I do not want to have a name for all read events. As mentioned before I want to record multiple readers with their own read history.
This means, the current status ist that there are legacy entries (for me as reader) where the field End Date is populated with a date but the Reader field is empty. Then there are books where the End Date and Reader are already pouplated, either with me as reader, my wife as reader, or both of us as readers with individual end dates i.e two read events)
This means that the following logic need to be applied in case of a bulk update:
- If End Date has no value no action to be performed (do not add any value in Reader field).
- If End Date has a value and Reader = Jacqueline do not perform any update.
- If End date has a value and Reader = Carsten do not perform any update
- If End Date has a value and Reader has no value set Reader value = Carsten (and only then).
Do not add any read events to the exisitng ones. There can be no more than 2 read events per book.
Before I give any permission I would like you to kindly confirm that the bulk update can be done according to above condition - otherwise I prefer to do this manually.
Yeah I did understand your end goal of having 2 persons be reading.

So any actual read event with an end date, and no reader filled in: add “Carsten” as reader to that event.
We’ll make a backup beforehand too.

We’ve checked, and you have 588 read events that have an end date filled in, but no reader.
