A couple things I’ve noticed and wanted to give some suggestions for improvements. For clarity, I’m using iOS app with the latest update installed.

- Starting at the top of the page after backing out of a folder. I saw this in another thread but saw someone said it was happening on Android and wanted to let you know it’s also happening iOS too. For example; I categorize by Series only. If I’m looking at Spawn and make a few changes and then go to back out of Spawn to look at all Series, it will automatically be at the top so I’d be looking at series that starts with #’s or A’s, etc. I suggest whenever you back out of something, the view remains exactly how it was before clicking into it. For my Spawn example, when backing out of the series, I should see the Spawn series and other series that starts with S. If I want to go to the top of the page, I can easily tap once at the top center of my phone and it auto jumps. So default should be where view was not auto be at the top of the screen.

- The Trivia Flag. I like the concept and think it should stay however, some adjustments are needed. First, if it’s a trivia flag there is a huge grey box that displays on the book cover browser. The grey box takes up too much real-estate and diminishes the art and quality. Can we make it smaller or can we move it off the book cover or maybe a transparent option? I mean look at this picture. The display just looks tacky to me.

- I notice now after the latest update, whenever I upload covers I scanned, there is always a white line on the right side of the picture and I have to crop it within the CLZ app for every single picture. The white line is not on the photo that gets uploaded. I’ve been canning and uploading covers for years and never seen the white line before. Here are some examples of what the covers look like in CLZ with the white line followed by the original scanned photo that I uploaded:

- Last suggestion I have is I recently read someone suggested including a direct link to CGD site. I wanted to suggest to add a link that goes directly to the CGC census for that particular issue. I personally believe that is more beneficial than a GCD link but why not both?

This is working for me in the latest version on iOS, so I’m not sure how this is not working for you. I do see you are in “Collection Status filter: IN COLLLECTION” mode.

What is the change you make to a comic when this happens?

Here’s how you can make a screen recording on your iOS device:

1. Go to Settings \> Control Center, then tap + next to Screen Recording.
2. Open Control Center (swipe down), tap the “Record” button, then wait for the three-second countdown.
3. To stop recording, tap the red status bar at the top of the screen, then tap “Stop”.

You can send me the file(s) via:

I agree in this screenshot it is a bit much. It is **as big as the minor/major key icons that appear over the cover** , those never bothered you? I’ll take note of your suggestion to think about this again.

Indeed, that is a bug, I’ve reported it with the team here! Thank you and my apologies for the inconvenience.

I’m assuming this is about a link to CGC?

You can edit a comic, go to the value tab, find the “Cert Number” field and then fill in “4208976006” for instance.

Make sure the Grading company field is set to CGC.

Save it. The certification number is now clickable in your Details panel (with all comic details). Now just tap it to open the dedicated CGC page.

From the example above, it would go to [https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/4208976006/](https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/4208976006/)

> - Oh I do have another quick question I don’t really want to make a separate thread for. What happens if I stop my Comic Collector for PC subscription? Assume I cancel, can I upload newly acquired comics and scan covers on my phone through the CLZ app, can I download those newly added books on Comic Collector? If I cancel, is Comic Collector data going to stay stagnant in every capacity no matter what changes I do in my phone? Another way of asking is however the CC collection info is in the day my subscription ends, that’s is what I will see if I open and browse my collection in the CC desktop app without and active subscription? Thanks for the help (yes, I know this question is about pC version and not mobile haha).

If you cancel/stop your subscription on the old Windows version, you can’t sync anymore.

Ever considered trading your PC version in for the Web version?

BTW: I see you are still using the legacy Comic Collector desktop software.
Have you considered switching to our modern CLZ Comics Web software, for your browser?

CLZ Comics Web is easier to use and easier to manage, while still giving you all features and customization options.
Also: CLZ Comics Web is what all our development and support is focused on.

If you switch to CLZ Comics Web with our Trade-In offer, we will trade-in your remaining Comic Collector subscription days and will transfer them to the CLZ Comics Web edition, plus we will add 4 extra months for free.

> - What are the parameters on whether a book is a minor key or trivia?

Trivia was introduced to offer you the same information without necessarily referring to it as a key. It’s meant be an effort to retain the “value” of the minor and major key status. Also gives us more room to note things that wouldn’t be considered a key.

The Absolute titles were partially the reason this new status was introduced. Absolute is the exact same as what Marvel did with Ultimate in the 2000’s, Absolute Batman has a very similar impact as Ultimate Spider-Man did. But those books are 26 years old and the once that are a key have earned their key status. It’s still too early for any Absolute title to actually be noted a key. All of the introductions of these Absolute iterations are used by the publisher and stores to sell books. This is totally fine but this is not something we are trying to cater to. But to completely leave the info out is a bit of a slap in the face of the collectors. We have noted Absolute Batman #1 as a key because this book had such a massive impact on the comic collecting world and because it’s a big #1. Some books are just big because they’re a #1 not so much because what happens inside. Dropping the key status after the introduction of the Trivia status didn’t make sense, so we left it as is with newly added data to the key reason.

“I would think 1st appearances of major Batman villains”
Definitely not, by that logic the entire series is key. And you would also have to do it for every other version of Batman and rogues gallery in other alternate earth stories.

We’d rather skip out on calling them keys now and change them later, then to change them now and be laughed at in the future. Ultimate comics with 1st appearances were considered key at the time because this was the Ultimate version of a character. But we don’t care so much about those Ultimate iterations now.

Trivia is going to be used for things that could earn their key status after some time and for things that are nice to know, nice trivia to have listed, but not important enough to make these issues into a key. But they are noted! If you disagree, you are free to change it in your own database 😊

1. The issue of the jump it seems to happen if I’m editing a comic book and leave the app (not close it) but if I got to say like a website and go back and forth entering information. I noticed it’s about to happen, because once I edit a book and got back so it’s now showing all the issues of that particular series, the screen will blink and I know immediately when I back out of spawn, I’ll be at the way top. I will take a video later tonight after work and post it.
2. I guess no it didn’t bother me before because the key icons were colored and shaped like keys. I think the icons should be reduced in size but I don’t need an icon showing for trivia flag in the covers. It’s just one big grey block that blocks a quarter of the image. Instead of a grey block, how about an asterisk or don’t even put an icon for trivia (referring to the cover card browsing layout view). I was just using absolute Batman as a visual example. I’m not making any sort of argument whether absolute joker should be a mini or trivia. Lol. That said, I do really like the Trivia feature though. More info is always better.
3. I already personally add direct links to CGC Census Population. I was just making a suggestion because I previously saw someone saw something about GCD.
4. For Comic Collector, it’s a matter of opinion but I think Windows CC \>\>\> Comics Web. I like how I can do much more customization on the PC CC than the windows side. I also like how it stores your uploaded covers on my computer hard drive. With Comics Web, I already have the phone app so I don’t see give me any sort of added value it will bring. I also like the fact that with PC CC, everything is saved directly to my hard drive. So I don’t have to rely on having to be connected to the internet in order to view it. I also don’t like having to rely on another party to view and edit and ultimately save my entire collection and hours and work I have put into it. I mean if CLZ goes bottoms up or perhaps your database gets hacked. I don’t want to risk losing something I’ve put so much time in. So I guess a string sense of security is why I prefer the PC CC. I mean what can Conics Web do or provide that CC PC can’t?

Yeah I hear ya. I actually really like it as more information is always better. My biggest grip is mainly the aesthetics and appearance. I was in no way trying to argue an absolute Batman, I just merely used that as an example because the screenshot I posted had a big grey block on every damn cover on the screen and just looks so ugly. I do love the fact you can make your own keys. I use them for my spawn books. I also forgot to mention how much I love the ability to add pictures. I’m working on scanning COA’s and photographing signatures to add.

Thanks for your reply.

1: Looking forward to your video.

2: noted. Could be something to look into indeed.

3: I saw CGC, CGD, GCD in your initial post and I got confused. Your request is noted

4: I have the feeling it won’t be useful to discuss this, as we’ve done this discussion from time to time, and always it ends it “but I just like the desktop version better” - even if we’re able to put down all concerns about hacking/data not being stored on your computer/not having an internet connection.

If you want I can definitely get into it for you of course, in short: you can always export all data to XML, CSV, PDF, make a backup, download and store it locally with CLZ Web.

If we go bottoms up, your program will be dead in the water too (it won’t be able to authenticate to unlock anymore, so if you ever need to reinstall, you’re out of luck).

Comics Web has way more custom fields than the desktop version for instance. I can go on, but if you’re already sure you want to stay with the desktop version, that is completely fine, and we’ll just leave it at this 🙂
