Hello, is it possible to make the text wraparound in folder view, so each entry can be fully seen from the list? Thanks!
The list you have provided looks like it was created in Music Collector for Windows.
In that program it is possible to have Composition at Track, Header or Disc level, and to view everything in Tracks view to separate compositions out properly.
In the Cloud/Web product and in the Mobile product: (a) there is no track view and (b) Composition is a free format field.
I had to make a lot of changes to my database to “promote” information to disc/album level so as to obtain the information I needed (eg “Grieg Piano Concerto” was at Header level and had to be added to album level).
I would suggest that you take a good look at the way the current products work and reconfigure your database to fit in.
For example for “Piano Concerto No 2 (Bela Bartok)” you should add “Bartok” as the Composer of the Album, “Piano Concerto” as the Genre of the album, and the Composition you change to “Bartok Piano Concerto 2”. Now you have a folder view of Composer|Genre|Composition. This gives a pretty good result. It is not “perfect” like the result you could get from the Windows product, but it takes considerably less effort on your part to implement.
Other information, such as Opus Number, Key and composer forenames is best taken out of the composition field and put into the Notes field, or read from the cover picture inlay card.
You will need some tweaking and experimenting to get this to work well with your data, but your approach needs to be very different for Mobile than for Windows.
I’m afraid that’s not possible, but I will take note of that idea.
I think stevej’s comments might help out too (as far as changing composition names and using notes).
Thanks for your reply CLZ_AJ The CLZ Web product does wrap around text quite nicely in Folder view, so I’ll use that product instead for this kind of search. The fact that the Mobile product can’t manage this seems a bit sub-par, but I guess there must be an issue that makes it difficult for your developers to achieve this. I like the way the composition field works in 2 out of 3 CLZ products, so I’m not inclined to reformat it.
It’s not difficult, it’s just a choice that was made for mobile devices. I’ve taken note of your suggestion, as I can see it would be useful.
When I said “it’s not possible” I was replying to your question “if it is possible” - where I thought you were asking if there is some sort of setting, right now, in the app, to do this. And I was saying no to that ![]()
Ah I see. Sorry if I misunderstood your answer CLZ_AJ
