Entering one of the common collections - e.g. the 10-CD Alfred Brendel - The Legendary Early Recordings 10-CD set - is a real pain. CLZ Core doesn’t know anything about it, and there is a huge amount of track information. I can find a track list onli8ne - but no way of getting it into CLZ other than manuallyb typing it all or pasting line by line.
Or is there…? If not, an “import track list” feature woukd be SO helpful
Alfred Brendel died yesterday - one of the truly great pianists.
I can’t find the specific album you mention on Discogs, but doubtless it is there somewhere.
The only import feature that exists is in the Cloud/Web version, which works in tandem with the Windows version.
BUT two bits of BAD NEWS
(1) The Cloud version does not support, and is never likely to support, a separate track view, and there is minimal information stored for each track
(2) The Windows version is now deprecated, so there will be no more feature updates for that
You now need to experiment to find a solution that works for you. In the case of a 10 disc album I would consider splitting it into 10 separate 1 disc albums, and then join them together as a box set. You could add compositions to each disc, if they are large enough eg Beethoven Piano Concert 5, but if the works are short pieces, a recital, then I wouldn’t bother. Instead I would either use a scan of the track listing from the CD as the Front Cover of the disc, or alternatively copy all the details from the internet and paste it into the notes field.
This gives most of what you want, but not quite in the way that you want it
We have it on the ideas list to allow like copy/pasting a track list in the edit album screen - but this could become quite a monster of a feature as we’ve seen in the past everyone will have different “forms” of text files then. Still, we’re thinking about adding something like that.
AJ, I don’t understand your response. Alwin has said on this forum that (a) no new features will be added to the Windows program and (b) the support for tracks in the web/mobile products will remain very limited.
Has CLZ had a change of heart here?
Also, my music database made extensive use of tracks, but because this information did not ripple through to the mobile product, my database was almost entirely useless in the mobile product, so I repositioned all my data, as outline above, so that it did ripple through.
So even if you were to improve the paste facility in the Windows product, it wouldn’t really be of much advantage unless that data also rippled through to Mobile.
