Access violation error

Hi there

After not using the Music Collector for quite some years I finally downloaded the new Music Collector and loaded the old database file. It got updated fine and I got my data loaded and could view the albums.
All my albums wasn’t linked to clz so I started to link them. A few could link by the barcode but as most of my collection is old there are no barcodes and it looks like you don’t make matches on cat. no.
Well I started to link them manual by pressing the link button when the cover and track count matched and after 200-250 albums I got the access violation error (see picture) and I had trouble getting out of it as whatever I clicked on the same access violation error popped up again. Finally I got out of the link disk dialog and everything looked fine again. Closed and opened the collector and started to link again. Same happen, after max. 250 albums the error came again.
This is a little annoying as I have to link 12556 albums in total.
Is there any way to avoid the error?

Thank you for the support!

Hi @Prasmus, I’m not familiar with this error, and usually with Access Violation I would recommend to do a full reinstall.

It might not help, but here are those instructions:

Please follow the steps below to try and resolve this issue, this process will affect some local settings in your software such as the width of columns, but your database will not be affected.

Here’s what to do:

  • Click the Windows start icon and type ‘regedit’ into the search box, then press ENTER.

  • Locate the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Collectorz.com > Music

  • Select that “Music” folder entry there and delete it!

  • Download and install Music Collector from your My CLZ page:
    https://my.clz.com

  • After installing, you will have to unlock the software. Fill in your username/password to unlock the software.

  • Before actually opening your database, try adding one album to this empty database, just to check if it all works fine!

  • Now, reopen your database: Click File > Open then locate the database file in order to get things working again.

Alternatively you could opt to sync with CLZ Cloud
then go to cloud.clz.com and log in
And then from the menu choose the LINK ALBUMS there, and do the linking THERE, and when you’re done, sync on Music Collector Windows again.

Thank you for the reply.

Actually I did the reinstall before my post as I did read that suggestion on most/all the access violation questions on the forum and it looked like the standard answer.
I found my own solution: Only accept 100 links, then exit the Links Disks with Core dialog and then reenter it again for the next 100 links and so on.

So I’m done with about 2500 album so I only miss 4 times more

Thanks again
