I am not sure how you assign the issue letter to the database entry. Do you just assign the next available or do you coordinate with the company for the actual issue version? Anyway - Please add the following:

Yeah - I find that the variant letters in the database do not correspond with the comic company. Many of them will print a list or show images of variants in the inside front or back covers and they DO NOT jive with the lettering in our databases.
@MJFreitag about the variant lettering: we use our own variant lettering system, based on alphabetical order.
