Adding multi-disc albums and other issues

First post, so I have to get out of this way. I hate everything about this web version and detest the fact that my application database was corrupted when trying to sync it to the web version. I should have backed it up, but here I am.
Thanks for listening.

Now onto the actual issue at hand as I manually re-add my entire collection of thousands of CDs. Previously, when I would add multi-disc albums to the local application, I could scan the UPC and it would display all of the discs associated with that album and I could multi-select the discs and add it as a single album. In this web version, I see the first disc and the first disc only. Sometimes up to twenty versions of the first disc. And half of them are missing track info, such as length. No second or tenth disc to multi-select.

Now, if I enter the catalog number (manual and time consuming for someone with old eyes) for the same multi-disc that I attempted to add via UPC, it will often display a complete multi-disc version that I can add. Where is the disconnect between the UPC and the catalog number and why does the version presented here have the correct UPC information populated that isn’t able to be found when scanning the UPC?

Is there any way to re-match the album once it’s been added? ie, I get an album missing tracks or track info. Currently, I would have to delete the album, (probably) manually retype in the catalog number because the UPC isn’t matching correctly, and then review the matches and add it again.

I want to not be so cranky here, but the application just worked. Can you help me streamline the experience of re-adding my entire collection?

I’m really sorry to hear that. But if we take it point-by-point it is likely I can help you out, explain things, and make it work for you, together with you. Although, “everything” might be a big one for me too!

Have you contacted us through email support? Did we ever try to help you see if we can get that db file working again?

This is definitely possible in Web, and works the same as your old desktop version (and it searches the exact same database).

If you search the barcode, and we have multiple results for you, you can click the little dropdown V shaped icon to drop out and see all results.

You can select the result with multiple discs (if we have it) or “combine” results by checkboxing disc 1, disc 2 etc, and then "add as multi-disc album.

To be honest: Removing and re-adding is likely your best bet.

But: You can unlink and re-link an album, then Update from Core. But if we don’t have the right result you’ll end up removing and re-adding anyway. To do it: click the album, then click the 3 dot icon above the details, then click “Unlink”
Then do the same and click “Link album” and then find the right result with multiple discs. If we don’t have it, then removing/re-adding is the best way.

Thank you for the timely response. As you can tell, I am frustrated by this endeavor. Let me add some more info.

No. The database file still works, it just has two to five copies of every album. Because it appears that it always performs a two-way sync and does not do any de-duping. I had previously attempted to use web version years ago (apparently a few times), and it wasn’t a clean slate when I did the sync.

As albums have had updates through the years, de-duping that mess and choosing the most up to date version seems as time consuming as re-cataloging the entire collection.

I don’t have a drop-drown V. Let me attempt to add some screenshots. This is a deluxe version two disc album. When searching by UPC, only a single 1 disc entry is found.

CLZ-UPC

When searching by Catalog ID, two versions are found. One of them being the two disc version.

CLZ-CAT

Upon examining these, I see that both versions have identical UPCs and Catalog Numbers in the description.

Let’s make things interesting. If I search Artist and Title, I get four entries, containing individual discs that I could individually select and multi-add.

This is the exact behavior I am experiencing with every multi-disc album.

Shame. This is a fringe case and I can deal with it, but it feels like there is an opportunity for improvement here.

Searching by Catalog nr might give different results than barcode, or title. This is to be expected.

That said: by barcode you should definitely have gotten the dropdown to select multiple discs to add as a multi-disc album - but upon investigation, it seems that little thing has been forgotten there. We will put it high upon the todo list to add into the barcode tab. My apologies for this confusion!

Do you by any chance use the mobile app as well? If you do, it DOES have that system:

(I could not find your account on your forum email address so I couldn’t see if you use the mobile app as well currently).

As for the broken database have you also tried looking in Documents > Music Collector > Backup? It might’ve had a backup from before it doubled up (syncing shouldn’t double everything up obviously, but in some cases it can error out on itself to do so). I’m happy to also investigate that bit if you’d like to go that route.

At least I’m not losing it… yet. I feel somewhat better about this being a CLZ problem than a me problem.

Maybe down the road. Currently not willing to double dip on subscription fees while this feels like chaos.

The woes of multiple accounts. On my todo to merge account info for these services. But thanks for checking.
