Adding Up TV Series Runtime

Hello

This is my first post of what I hope will be many. While I am still learning the system, I used another for a couple decades, I haven’t found the answer to this question. When adding The Bear season 5, the runtime is in the episode tab, yet doesn’t show up, my old system I had a button that would add it up if I added the episodes manually. I might understand if the episode length wasn’t there already. What am I missing? While I am at it is there options on the main page to view either in mins or hour and mins?

Hi there, welcome.

I’m sorry to say I do not understand this question exactly.

Are you saying episode lengths are missing for The Bear S5?

Yes, open the menu and go to Settings, then look for
“Display format for time fields”
You can change it there. It immediately changes it for all time fields though.

Thanks AJ got the time display.

As for the TV series sorry should be more clear here. Regarding the Bear, it happens with some others I have been adding, Each episode has the name and length in the episode tab yet on the main page the running time is blank. The other 4 seasons of the show has calculate the runtime. Ex The Bear Season 1 4:04 Season 2 5:58 etc..

Hm, when I add The Bear: Season 5 it does come down with a runtime on my side.

Please know that:

  • a movie entry can have a runtime
  • an episode can have a runtime

These fields are not connected, we do not automatically calculate runtime of the “movie entry” (so the entire entry) based on the episodes that are inside (also because some users will fill in something else, make it higher, lower, maybe want to include extras, etc.).

If you click The Bear: Season 5 now, and click on the 3 dots at the top of the details panel, then click Update from Core, and make it go through, do you get an overall runtime then for it?

Bingo!!! That did it. Thanks I am still learning and the Core section I don’t know that much about. As you can see from my screenshots the other seasons were automatically populated, hence my question. I appreciate your input and will definitely be asking more as I continue.

Looks good to me indeed! And I’m happy to assist/help out if you have further questions!

Of course on adding it should’ve downloaded the full runtime already for you, but it could be that we just didn’t have it in Core yet - and it got added.. a bit after you added your edition to your own collection
