Avoiding exiting the editing screen without saving

Is it possible to have a fail safe implemented that won’t allow me to accidentally exit editing when swiping up and down the screen, without saving. Done this a number of times now and it’s very frustrating. Using the app on an iPad.

Great idea, I’ve done this myself several times in the iOS app and also the web app. It would be nice to have a popup “your changes have not been saved” or something similar.

Yes, great idea, and it should actually already work like that(!)

I might be missing something here, but on iPad I don’t believe it should “cancel” the edit screen when swiping up/down - unless I’ve got it wrong?

In any case, when you cancel the Edit screen and you have made changes, it should ask you what you want to do.

On iPhone, swiping down does cancel the edit screen.

Here’s a video for iPad where you see the “You still have changes” popup question:

And for iPhone it does this:

Does this not work for you?
Is it only on certain fields?

No that’s not the issue as I know to click on cancel or done to save or not save a particular field. For example, it’s happened to me when I’ve entered half a dozen musicians against an album, then accidentally swiped down the screen. The editing screen closes without any prompt and doesn’t save my additions.

I’m sorry but I can not reproduce this on my side when I try to slide the edit screen “up” on iPad. I also showed this in my video (yes I tapped “cancel” too, but I also tried sliding UP).

Can you perhaps show me in a video that it does this for you?

Here’s how you can make a screen recording on your iOS device:

  1. Go to Settings > Control Center, then tap + next to Screen Recording.
  2. Open Control Center (swipe down), tap the “Record” button, then wait for the three-second countdown.
  3. To stop recording, tap the red status bar at the top of the screen, then tap “Stop”.
