My add comic by barcode is not working. I have tried restarting my phone, adding light, trying a different phone but nothing is working.

Can you try holding the camera further away?
Start close, then slowly pull back until it focuses and scans.
If that also doesn’t work, do you see any indication on your screen with a red line that it is finding a barcode or a partial at least?
Could you show me a video where you are scanning a couple of comics?
Here’s how you can make a screen recording on your Android device:
- Swipe down twice from the top of your screen.
- Tap “Screen record”.
If “Screen record” is not there, you might need to swipe right to find it. If it’s not there, tap “Edit” and drag “Screen record” to your Quick Settings.

Choose what you want to record and tap Start. The recording begins after the countdown.

To stop recording, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the “Screen recorder” notification.
You can find the files in the Photos app in Library > Movies.

Unfortunately my phone does not have an option to record, only screenshots. The reader gives no indication of trying to read at all. It was working fine last month while adding my monthly pull. I tried on my phone and my wife’s phone with no success.
I am able to add by scanning the cover but that method is not very efficient for adding multiple comics.
We are currently investigating the barcode scanning problem that seems to happen on some Android devices.

The problem does not happen on any of the Android devices we have laying around the office (and we have a LOT 
).
Soo… we went to a used electronics store nearby and we just purchased a Samsung Galaxy A23.
And the good news is, we are now able to reproduce the problem! On this device, it indeed won’t scan at all.
Reproducing a problem is alway step 1 towards fixing it
Step 2 is finding out what the problem is exactly and what causes it. Working on that now.
UPDATE 1: Alwin and I have been doing further testing. It seems to be related to the unusual width/height ratio of these devices, combined with the new Android camera API that we started using in v10.
However, our Android developer is working from home this week and he needs the test device for further debugging. We’ll try to get the new test device to him ASAP.
UPDATE 2: this afternoon we happened to receive a new Android test tablet that we ordered, a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus. And the scanning does not work on that either. The good news: we now have 2 devices that we can reproduce the problem on
UPDATE 3: Sytske and Alwin just drove to Android developer Pim’s home to drop off the two “problem devices”, so that Pim can debug the problem. It is 7:45 PM now though, so Pim will start on that first thing tomorrow morning

This has now been fixed in version 10.0.3 for Android!
Your app may have updated itself already (check the menu top left, the version number is at the top).
If it hasn’t updated itself yet, here’s how to force the update:
on Android:
- On your device, open the Play Store app.
- Search “CLZ” and select your CLZ app.
- Tap “Update” to update the app.
Can you try that and let me know if barcode scanning works again for you?

I have Google Pixel 6 pro and just found out my barcode scanner doesn’t work either. It doesn’t even try to scan, no reaction at all. Cover scan workds fine.
Which version of CLZ Comics do you have? Can you open your menu top left and check at the top? The latest version should be v10.1.2

Thanks for the reply. That’s odd, I’m on 10.1.2, I checked some other books and the scanner is working. It turns out I had two books in a row that the scanner doesn’t read the barcode. Normally if the scanner didn’t recognize the barcode it would pop up an “add manually” screen. These two books there was no response from the scanner at all.

Can you post a picture of the barcode here? I’m curious what it is, maybe it’s a strange type of barcode.
