I moved my Book Collector to a new computer. Everything seems to be working correctly, but all the book dimensions have been increased by a factor of 2.54. The old computer had the dimensions in mm. The new computer displayed inches, but 2.54 times too large. When I change the dimensions to mm they are still 2.54 times too large. It seems like something got confused between mm and inches, but 2.54 is cm per inch. Anything I can do to get them all corrected? If not, I could export everything and change the dimensions and then import. Book Collector 20.2.3 on Windows 11. Old computer was Windows 10.
Do you still have the old computer?
If so I recommend opening it, then go to the settings and verify if you are in MM or INCH.
Then, using File > Save Database As, save a new copy of your database, and bring that over to your new computer.
Then open the file on the new computer and it will open it (with the settings you previously left it at on the new computer).
That should likely do the trick.
Let me know how that goes.
It didn’t let me open the copy of the database as it said it was in use on the other computer. I cleared the license information on the old computer and still the same message. I just copied the old database to the new computer which is what I did the first time, but this time the dimensions are correct. The difference was the first time I did this, the dimensions were mm on the old computer and inches on the new. This time they were both set to mm when I moved the database. Thanks for your help.
So you’re good now?
I can explain why the messaging happened, it is because the program was still open when you copied the files. But it doesn’t matter, if you’re good now, you’re good, and that’s it
