Box Set Listing for James Bond Collection not linking properly

I imported the Bond box set as 24 movies. I then linked the individual movies to their appropriate location. Unfortunately the box set itself does not appear as a “clickable” movie that I can then use to select a movie from the box set listing.

However, if I pick a movie - say “Gold Finger” - I am then brought to “The James Bond Collection” where all of the box set is listed and from where I can actually pick a Bond movie from the box set listing.

However, when I select a movie from that list I am brought to an incorrect movie - such movie seems to always be the first movie listed under the alpha letter for the “root” movie that initially brought me to the box set.

For example, if I go to the listing for “Die Another Day” as an individual movie, I am brought to the box set. If I then click on any movie from the box set listing I am brought to “Daisies” (the first movie listed under “D” in my library). Similarly, if I click on “Moonraker” as an individual movie, I will directed to the box set listing and any movie selected there will take me to “Mad Max”.

You can get this done if you group by box set. Click the folder icon top left, then under Edition choose Box Set.

I can not reproduce this, but when I check your collection I don’t even see the Bond box set there. I tried finding your account using your email as registered here with our forum.

Did you remove the box set? Or do you have a different account?

Thanks. I’m still not able to reproduce it in your collection.

Note that I’ve changed your view to “list” view, and then added the “box set” field as a column in front of the title as well (just so I could view it more clearly).

I made a video. Am I doing something different than you?

Check out the video I made in your collection:

I also noticed “For Your Eyes Only” is in a duplicated box set. You might need to edit that entry and change the box set field inside that movie to the correct James Bond Collection at least.

Nice video you made (what was the IMDB rating on that? (lol)). Yes, it works for me, as for you, in the cloud version but not so on my desktop PC. Unfortunately my Techsmith license has expired or I would make a video to show you. Perhaps I’ll just remove the movies and try to add the set back in. How do I delete the existing James Bond Collection Box Set? Thanks!

You can record your screen via this website:

You can send me the file(s) via:

But: I see you mention the desktop PC. Did you mean to report a problem with the old legacy Movie Collector Windows version?

I’m curious to know what you see.

As for removing a box set: You can just remove all movies in the box set (Set folders to box set, then click a box set, select all those movies, remove them.

If you are on the old Windows version, you can use menu Edit > Manage Pick Lists and then click Box Set, then you can remove unused box set items.

If you are on the Web version, unused box set items will automatically be removed.

I’m curious where you’re having a problem!

Thanks for sending in the video. I see that the problem you’re reporting is for the legacy Windows version of our software.

I would strongly recommend to consider switching to the Web version. Is that an option for you?

Lastly: I see you’re using 2 panel layout on Windows, but you have folders enabled. That, I remember from the past, caused all kinds of troubles with navigation.

I recommend clicking menu View > Layout > 3 Panels Vertical

And now you should get a big list of folders on the left (depending on which field you’r foldering, and the navigation should be a little bit more clear too.

I was just looking around the web version - one thing I didn’t notice was the ability to use clickable links to local storage. Am I missing something?

The Web version, which runs on a website, does not support clicking links to files that are stored on your own computer.

This will likely never happen either: I think most webbrowsers would throw massive alarmbells if a website tries to open a file on your local computer by the way!

We sometimes advise to add e-books to dropbox/google drive, and get a web-link to those, that would work - but for big movie rips or downloads that is not really a feasible situation.

If you are using local files a lot for Movie Collector, then I recommend staying with the Windows version.

Or look into something like Plex.tv which is built for the main reason of running files, where you can run a server, and let the web version find files on that server and start them.
