Box set of 24 movies not showing up in the correct order

There are 24 movies in a box set I just added to my collection. On CLZ Movies Web, those 24 movies show up in the wrong order and I can’t move the movies to the order of which my boxset has them.

For example, my Nightmare on Elmstreet box set shows all the movies in the correct order when I put it into the CLZ Movies Web starting out with the original, then part 2 as the next and part 3 as the next and part 4 as the next and so on. When I entered my Friday the 13th boxset, the movie covers showed up in the correct order. When I entered my Underworld boxset, the titles showed up in the correct order as listed on the boxset.

With this new 24 movie box set I have, the 2nd one comes up first, and the first one showing up in spot number 13 to the right.

I tried changing the entry numbers, but that does not move the individual titles in the listing.

And, when I went to EDIT the boxset, and clicked on “Movies,” I placed the titles in the correct order 1 through 24, and yet when I go to the display of the movie posters showing all the movies, the movie titles does not change position and they are still out of order.

The order in which I have the titles showing is the ADDED DATE (Descending…) which means when I add a new movie to my collection, the newest one always shows up in the most upper left of the list of movie covers.

Box sets have always up to this point added the movies in that boxset from the oldest movie (first movie in the set) on the left, and displays the other titles in the box set in the correct order going to the right.

Is there a way to move the movie listings within a box set, or move the movie posters around so they show up in the order I want to see them?

Where do you do this exactly?

Here!

And by the way, I’m still waiting for an option so I don’t have to click on “View all movies” just so I can see a list of the movies in a box set.

There should be an option. Show 5 (limited) as it is now or the option to show All. I would always have the All selection selected so I don’t have to keep pressing on “View all movies” every time I open a box set to look at or edit it.

The option to show all, always is on the ideas list, and has been since you indeed suggested it.

As for the “edit box set” and changing the order, it works and saves it fine for me.

However you said

“when I go to the display of the movie posters showing all the movies, the movie titles does not change position and they are still out of order.”

What is “display of the movie posters showing all the movies” ?

Here you can see me changing 3 movies order in edit box set, and you can also see the order changes nicely in the list of movies.

I think @thebarnman is not referring to the order within the box set, but he is referring to the order the movies are displayed in the ‘Cards / Covers / Shelves’ when sorting on ‘added date’. When he changes the order in the box set, it is not reflected in the Cards/Covers/Shelves view when still sorting on ‘Added Date’.

You can select your own Sorting fields. You can sort on ‘Added Date’, but you cannot extend the sorting with: box set entry position.

Twazery is correct, what I’m talking about with the posters being in a certain order, is how he says “he is referring to the order the movies are displayed in the ‘Cards / Covers / Shelves’ when sorting on ‘added date’. When he changes the order in the box set, it is not reflected in the Cards/Covers/Shelves view when still sorting on ‘Added Date’.”

That is correct! All (except one) of my box sets list the movies in the same order in which they are arranged in the box set itself.

How about we have an update so anyone can change the order in which movies are listed on the shelves within a box set? Yes, there are options to choose from when it comes to sorting the movie posters on the shelves such as “Added Date” etc, but how about having a way to easily sort the movie titles within one box set by simply dragging it to the correct order? That feature for example, should only work with box sets since all the other movies in the collection have been added at different dates and shouldn’t be moved.

Hi twazerty,

Your response gave me an idea. There is a way to add movies manually to a box set. I wonder if I can add one title (which would be the box set) but without any of the movie titles, THEN manually add the titles one by one, and link them to that one title that really is a box set.

If I put the titles in manually (in the order of the newest one first with the oldest one last) they would (I think) show up in the order in which I would like to see them displayed on the shelves. Adding the newest one first and adding the older ones last, it would list the movie posters on the shelves as oldest on the left with the newer ones going to the right.

I can give it a try.

If you put the titles in manually 1 by 1, then later select them (checkbox them) then use edit multiple, and then fill in the box set field with a box set title, then that will work to create a box set. So yes, that would be a good workaround for you for now.

That said, you could also sort by release year - for most box sets that actually gives you the right order (and yes of course there will be others where this is not the right order)

I’ve put on the ideas list to have “box set order” as a sortable field in the main listings - but that would be completely weird and useless if you don’t foldergroup on box set first, or sort by box set title first of course.
But because you asked about it, I’m assuming you’d understand that (or already are foldergrouping on the box set field).

I too used to be bothered with this until I started using title sort as a simple method of controlling the order displayed in all versions of collectorz
