I see there has been some improvement already for the search so it works better when searching for a game and pressing the enter (sometime fails) but it is still broken when selecting the result using the mouse!
Problem1:
Let me explain, say i search for a game called “Trinity Trigger”
As seen in image it finds two result. If i press enter i see this:
So far so good!
But if i select from the result list from the first image it shows this:
Problem2:
In another situation when i partly type the name like below and press enter it dont show any result which is also wrong as it clearly shows there are two games found but when i press enter it says “No results found”
Clicking from the suggestions will just “go to that game”
Pressing ENTER on typed letters will “filter the entire collection to only show items with those words”.
Long explanation:
When clicking a result from the “Search as you type suggestions”, it will:
Try to see if the game is in the current list you’re viewing (if it’s not in that list, it will switch to “All Games”,
Then scroll to that game
Then “clicks on it”.
You can see it in your screenshot too (I agree it is not a very great color for highlight):
This was introduced back in May of 2024:
If you merely type “Trini” and press enter
It will do a search and filter all games to see if the word “Trini” (not part of a word, a full word), is in any of your games.
I do agree that it would be useful if the search top right would also have “auto complete” for full words, so you could quickly type “Trini” and it would say “Trinity Trigger” for you to autocomplete - and then search the entire collection for those words, filtering down to only games with those words. I’ve taken note!
Although its not working as it should. I can show it more clearly here.
As in this example it showed 0 games when i press enter and only after several tries of clicking on the game it worked and listed the 4 games as below:
Same issue on mobile (android): searching for YS which clearly shows i have 5 games that start with that name and pressing enter shows just random games without the name YS
And i could swear the last one YS: Memories of Celesta was not in the list of result and only showed up after i searched “mem” and then YS that it showed up in the result.
Now i do the same and search for YS on the web version and press enter and result is correct:
Note also here it finds actually 8 YS games while on mobile it showed only 5 in the list of result!
If i was to buy a game when i’m out and would find discount for say “YS Orifin” and had used my mobile i would have bought the game twince as it would not show me i own the game.
Can you actively reproduce that it showed 0 games? When it shows 0 games, you might be in a folder that does not contain any results with that text you searched.
Note also here it finds actually 8 YS games while on mobile it showed only 5 in the list of result!
Imagine if i wanted to find Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. Its not in the list on the top right. Why?
The “search-as-you-type suggestions” dropdown box on Mobile and on Web always shows only 5 results. Never more, and that one only searches on title.
If you want to view all results (and search more fields other than just title by the way) you tap on View all results or you hit Enter on your keyboard to do a full search.
Tip:
If you’re wondering if you own YS Origin, I recommend searching for “origin” as that is probably the most discerning word of the title.
And if you’re looking for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana specifically in your collection, I’d definitely just start typing “Lacri” and the result will be right there in the search-as-you-type suggestion dropdown box.
Ok this i did not know. However on the mobile its bugged and dont’ work. The show all dont do anything and simply hide the result pop up. it dont look as if its even clickable. Tried several times and it dont list anything at all. On web it works.
Sure that is a good tips if i know the full name i collect games so i just know most of the title so i search YS, or Tales …but thanks for the tips.
One more improvment on the mobile would be that when i click on search it actually behaves like on the web. Basically if i have already typed YS on the web and i click on the field it shows the result. On mobile it dont do anything so i have to type empty space or change the field for any result to show. Would be much nicer if it could do as it behaves on the web version.
By the way i love the program and that its also available on the web which i use mainly on my pc. Great software beside the kinks It can always be better as with all software hehe
Tested to search “darksiders” and it listed the 4 games. Searching just “darksider” without the “s” dont list anything with return or list all result.
I thought clicking on view all result should show everything that contain the work even if partially or maybe i misunderstood?
If it dont work partially it would be great to add the possibility to do so, maybe adding a “*” in the end or begining, a “simple” change in search in the DB
The dropdown is just what the search “thinks” you might mean, and just shows you 5 (max) results. You can arrow down to the results to pick one if you already see your game!
The “enter” and doing the full search will grab the exact word you’ve typed and searches that. So if the title actually has an S behind it, that will not be found if you don’t search it.
I understand your request, but partial words searching is likely not going to happen (the results are very bad). An asterisk or percentage symbol to search anything “beginning” or “ending” with… is something we can consider indeed.
I’m sure now that the search is way more clear you will definitely get used to it!
Ok thanks, then i know how it works for now atleast Yes the addition of * would be really helpful.
Also the mobile tweek so you dont have to constantly add a space or something to see the list would be a nice quality of life addition

The issues remaining now is the Mobile “bug”.
On the web if i search YS and press enter it will list all the games while on mobile it dont list anything. No matter if i press “enter” or on “View all result”. This must be a bug right?
Even searching Mario shows a good list of matched games (some dont have Mario but perhaps you search in some metadata as well, like the Luigi game listed)
Also to raise one potential issue with the current design. As you mentioned the popup list will only show 5 result max, in the case with YS, i have more then 5 games so if i dont know the full name how am i suppose to select it if it dont list it on the mobile?
On Web atleast when pressing enter it list all the games so thats a short term workaround i guess.
In the mobile app it will do “partial word searches” too.
And it does that in descriptions too.
So when you search “ys” then it will find for instance that Resident Evil game, because the description contains the word “analyse” which contains “ys”
As for “mario”, for instance the game “Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening” has “enemies like Super Mario’s Goombas” (or something similar). So it will find that game based on Mario.
The CLZ Mobile apps do not have a dropdown in the search where you can tell it to only search titles and not any description (this is on our to do list, to have the user be able to specify that).
Yeah that explains why there are so many hits. I suspected you search more then just title.
And it would be a great addition to be able to just search the title. As in my example i dont find all the games properly when i dont know the full name now.
