I want to change the sort name for an artist. I want to change “Lau, Stanley ‘Artgerm’” to “[Artgerm]”. This will essentially pin him to the top of the list alphabetically, which is what I want.
I was able to do this no problem on my mobile. Worked exactly like I wanted. EXCEPT, the change got erased after I did a couple of syncs between the PC.
I was NEVER able to get it to display correctly on my PC. I went through the same steps on the PC as the mobile, it modified all of the entries I had for Artgerm, but it never applied the change. It was still sorting under Lau, Stanley, instead of [Artgerm].
The steps I did in both places were:
Manage Pick Lists
Selected the Creators List
Edited the field for “Lau, Stanley ‘Artgerm’”
Set the Sort Name to “[Artgerm]”
Clicked Saved, and waited for all the entries to update
Am I doing something wrong? Did I find a bug?

If you only change the sort name, CLZ Comics Web will try to keep the creator “linked” to our Core entry, so that you can keep using the Core Creator lists (and enjoy the benefit of our updates to creator lists).
I understand that feels buggy, noted.
For now, if you really need that sortname to be changed, I recommend to also change the display name. Then it should work.
Note that when you do this for a creator, it will break all links to our Core creator list for all comics that use that specific creator.
If I change the Display Name, too, won’t that mean I’ll have to keep modifying every new entry for that artist when I add new books to Core?
Also, it looks like when I made the changes to the sort name, it modified all of the creator info and now all of those books have CUSTOM CREATORS instead of what is linked to core. Is there a way to remove the custom creators entries for a book (preferably in a batch mode of some form)?
When I tried reverting back to Core Creators for an entry or two, it seemed as if the Custom Creators were still there.

Can I ask, before we break anything else for you, what the absolute end goal here is? Why are you changing this, so I can perhaps think of a better way?
I like to view my collection a lot of times sorted by cover artist, and Artgerm is my favorite. I do a lot of viewing/editing on his books more than all the other artists.
It would be nice if I could just pin him to the top of my sort list, so I’m not constantly scrolling down to find him in the middle of my list.
It’s not a big deal. It would just be really convenient if he was “pinned” to the top!

I might be able to think of a different solution for that.
Would you like me to revert any and all comics that are currently set to “custom” for your creator list? Or just the ones with Artgerm for instance? To at least get you back to that?
If you could just do the Artgerm books, that would be great. I just moved (most of) them all into it’s own collection for the time being, so I can sort through them.
I will ask one of my colleagues on Monday or Tuesday to grab that Artgerm collection, and then modify ALL of them to have CORE Creators again.

You can of course work with your collection. And we will only modify your Artgerm collection comics (so leave that collection in there), to have CORE Creators again
