Can I ask why you’re linking new movies?
If you use the Add Screen, they will be added completely linked.
You should automatically get cast/crew when adding.
Something to check:
In the main screen, click “Tools > Options”. Then click on “Data and Images”.
Then click the button “Download settings for data and images” to change settings for which field-information should/should not be downloaded or updated.
I do not use Add Movies from CLZ because your prefill options do not fill some of the fields I need filled.
Instead I have a template for movies that has all fields prefilled as I want them. Fields like Cast & Crew that I want you to fill are left empty. To add a movie I duplicate the template (ctl-ins), then I edit the copy with the correct Title and Date, then I Link with CLZ Core and confirm I want to update it from Core.
I have done this exact procedure many thousands of times without a problem until very recently when it stopped working. The copied template links correctly, and offers to update from Core, however the fields like Cast & Crew that I want you to fill are left empty.
I checked download settings for data and images. I had Cast & Crew set to update empty fields only so I tried changing them to replace current data and confirmed that the update still does not work.
I tried the Add Movies feature and confirmed it does work which explains why you were unable to duplicate the problem.
Please try my procedure because I cannot use Add Movies as explained above.
Just to confirm, I have changed no MC settings for several years so something has definitely changed on your end.
I’m sorry, and I really mean no offense, but your add procedure and conclusions on our prefill options: I just don’t understand what you mean exactly.
It feels like you’ve indeed have made a sort of procedure way that is very logical to you, but I can’t follow the steps, or it just doesn’t happen for me.
Would you be willing to show me in a video exactly how you add a new movie, from scratch, and the point where the thing that worked before, now doesn’t work?
(I’ve had… annoyed customers before when I ask for more information, so please understand I don’t mean anything bad here )
What do you mean by having a “template” for movies?
What exactly do you mean with our pre-fill screen not filling in what you need? Which fields?
I have changed no MC settings for several years so something has definitely changed on your end.
The Windows program has not been updated in years (and will not be, as we’ve stopped development on it a couple years back). I’m sure something is wrong, but to figure it out I need to see it. Thank you if you can make that video happen!
A template is simply an unlinked movie named “Template” with fields common to all movies filled out the way I want them.
To add a movie I duplicate the template, edit the movie name and date, then link and update from Core.
I set out to write detailed instructions on how to reproduce the problem. In this process I created a new template so I could explain to you what to do.
The new template updates correctly from Core. The old template does not.
I carefully compared every field between old and new templates and they look identical to me.
Something very subtle is going on behind the scenes that I do not understand.
In any case, my new template works and I’m back in business.
If the problem reappears I’ll come back to explain how to recreate it.
I now also understand you created a movie called Template and just duplicate it so it has the fields the way you want.
I am curious though which fields are not part of Pre-fill that you do fill in in your template (as you can choose many fields from the pre-fill settings screen) - but since the Windows version isn’t developed for anymore we can’t add more fields to Pre-fill - so my question might be redundant
