I have a legacy Mac Music Collector v. 20.2.2 (I also have the web version, but adding CDs that I’m ripping (yes, I still do this…) is easier using the desktop version, so that’s what my question pertains to.
Until recently, if I wanted to add a multi-disc set, I would insert the first disc into my disc drive, click the + button to bring up that “add” menu, scan the disc, click on the box that searched for the CD…and it would stay there, in the queue, so that I could then eject that disc from the drive, put the second disc of the set in the drive, and repeat the above process.
Then, after I’d scanned and ID’d all 4 discs of the box set (say), I would click the “add as multi-disc set” box…and it would do that.
Now, since about January, what happens is when I bring up the “add” menu and scan the disc, it goes right on ahead and searches for the disc info.
In itself that’s not bad but…if I do NOT at this point add the disc, when I eject the first disc and scan the second one, the data for Disc 2 overwrites the info for the first disc.
Consequently, the only way to add a multi-disc set now is to scan and add each disc…and then after the fact, merge the resulting entries. (Another annoying artifact of this process: I like the database to count each TITLE as the next numbered increment. It used to do that for multi-disc sets. But of course now, since I have to FIRST add each disc individually, each disc gets its own ID number…and I have to manually change them to keep the ID # sequence intact.)
I cannot figure out how to change this behavior, or why it happened. This is especially odd since, as you know, this is a non-updating version since you ceased updating Mac versions in 2021 or 2022.
Any advice would be appreciated–thank you.
