Gents,
The Cherry Poptart (renamed Cherry after issue 3) series is full of variant label errors. Three different publishers also published and reprinted this series.
Cherry Poptart 1 through 13 are all from publisher Last Gasp under the Yentzer & Gonif imprint (logo in the top left corner) from 1982 to 1992. Multiple printings exist. There are at least ten different printings of #1 from Last Gasp (1a-1j)
Cherry 1 through 13 are reprinted by publisher Kitchen Sink (logo in the top right) under the Cherry Comics imprint (logo in the top left). Cherry 14 through 19 were further released. The Kitchen Sink run dates from Nov 1994 to Sept 1996.
Cherry 14 through 19 are then reprinted by a new publisher, Cherry Comics, after Kitchen Sink drops the title. Starts in April 2000. Issues 20 thru 24 are then released with multiple variant covers as well as reprints of #2, 3 and 4. None of the Cherry Comics publisher releases use the Poptart logo on the covers of reprints of #1 and #2, except a very specific, separate 2020 release called Cherry Poptart Legacy Edition #1.
So …
Should there be three series? At the very least, none of the Kitchen Sink issues #1-13 should be labelled as variant A, which many are.
Cherry Poptart (Last Gasp - Cherry Comics) #1-13
Cherry Poptart (Kitchen Sink - Cherry Comics) #1-19
Cherry (Cherry Comics) #0-4, 14-24
Not all variants are listed at comics.org. That’s a project I’ll be tackling.
