Custom CSS / Templates

One of the problems I have with modern web applications is low information density. I applied some custom css to correct this issue:

So much better. Not finished yet, so I am trying to cramp in more entries on the screen.

So some idea’s:

  • make an option to switch between Small/Medium/Large or something.
  • Make runtime switchable between HH:mm format or just minutes. (I hate the HH:mm format). For me movies are always in minutes.
  • Make an option to choose your own currency symbol. It always show $ when we use €/
  • choose your own date format. Now it is in December 2, 2025. I prefer 02-12-2025, or even better: 2025-12-02.

Some thing are not possible to do right now with just custom CSS. I think I can fix it with custom JS. But maybe an idea to allow some more customization? Maybe with custom css, maybe with more templating.

Just some idea’s.

Quoted from the newsletter of January this year:
We are currently working on a re-design of the CLZ Web cloud-based software, with a more modern and more “compact” look.

The main goal is to make the user interface (toolbars, etc…) more compact, so that more screen estate is freed up for your actual collection data. More collection items on screen, more folders on screen. Also, this will make the CLZ Web software more usable on smaller laptop screens.

For your runtime, currency and date formats: please open the menu top left, go to settings and change them there! You should be looking for these settings:

As for custom css / custom JS, I don’t think that will ever make the cut. Sorry about that.

I don’t have a settings menu:

I don’t have a subscription for Web, only checking what the current state is for Web to see what problems I have to solve before I can eventually move to Web.

I totally forgot about the Newsletter message. I did read it  but already forgot about it.

Might be time to get that subscription then

Indeed, setting the view options is not part of the Cloud version, that is only for paid Web app version. My apologies, I assumed you had Web!

Did you do the trial for Web? Would you like to have some trial days?

Yeah great idea. I will extend my subscription with Web. I don’t need some trial days.

I would expected you could change those settings, because it are settings only for representation (view only). I had the assumption the subscription was only for editing.

Didn’t realize there are 2 versions of the application. Cloud and Web.

In Web I found the settings and changed it.

Small “bug”: it displays currency with a . seperator instead of a , seperator. 6.99 instead of 6,99. Maybe you should follow my browser / OS settings or make the format an option so you can choose. The Desktop app shows it correct.

Now I changed the settings on Web, it also applies for Cloud. Nice.

We don’t allow the separator to be changed indeed. Never have, never heard anyone request it either. I will keep the suggestion in mind.
