DVDProfiler import missing Audio and sub-tracks

When you submit to Core, you decide which field you submit in that screen, so you could just ignore the Region field completely when submitting too, if you like to use that field.

That said, the tags field also allows multiple values of course

As for your other question of which field we import from the XML to our language field in your collection, that’s something I have to ask a developer here - but it might not be important for you now anymore?

I might use this information as I anticipate to spend the next couple of month to rely on my Profiler database in order to rectify (and reorganise) certain of my CLZ Data, but it’s ok if you dont have the info.
The more I try to ā€œclean upā€ my data, the more I think it would be greatly helpfull if you could develop a functionnality which permits to compare the local data with the core data and than download selectively (I know that I can download from Core but I was used in DVD Profiler to be able to preview the changes). Exactly the same kind of functionnality you provide for uploading to Core, but the other way arround.

You can already set which field you want to download or not during the update, but I do understand your request coming from your side (that is coming from DVD Profiler and having your own set of data, and having Core data).

Comparing data that is about to be downloaded versus what you already have, I don’t know about that one, I don’t think that is something we want to introduce.

I see your point and I quite frankly agree. On the other hand it’s so great to be able to maintain user specific data within our collections. I was for instance very astonished that a great many back covers seem to be missing in Core because these back cover images carry all the information you need to select a film

BTW: we have update the DVD Profiler import tool, so that it also imports the audio tracks and subtitles.
Thanks for notifying us about this!

Hi Alwin, I used your corrections to import my DVD Profiler XML into a new collection (called Work). I can confirm that your correction works fine. BUT I DISCOVERED A NEW VERY SEVERE BUG in MOVIES WEB: after importing the movies into my new WORK Collection, I wanted to contribute these correct Audio an Subtitles tracks to your Core Data. I therefor open each movie and use the ā€œSubmit to Core optionā€.

To my astonishment, NONE of my Audio tracks can by uploaded/submitted. It simply will not use (show) my Audio track data in the Submit to Core screen! This is however not the case with Subtitles where the system identifies the NEW subtitles (which the are indicated in a different color like all the rest of the fields where the differences can easily be identified by there color).

If this BUG is real, this could explain why there is so few Audio Track Data in your Core Data (as I mentioned earlier in this Chat).

Update: problem occurs when using Movies WEB, win 10/Opera and Edge browser, Also when using Movies WEB on ipad latest IOS, both Opera and Safari browser. Good news: the Movies mobile App works correctly and submits correctly using safari browser. Which proves that problem is not releated to my Data, it is a Movies WEB problem.

Hi @Allardl

Submitting audio tracks definitely does work, but you have to select them in that screen because of the way audio tracks in Core are saved. This is not something you see on your side (as an audio track is saved as 1 string in your database) - but on our side, we have a set list of audio tracks that we choose from. And a set list of languages for those - that we choose from.

The user can submit and indeed local data is taken usually from your movie and put above the fields, for you to then click, and later submit.

Audio tracks is just a ā€œstrange fieldā€ compared to the others, so yeah, it’s likely we should do better matching, but for now you have to manually click them. (I understand that is difficult because you don’t see ā€œyour own audio tracks thereā€.

I understand your request will be to make this better, and I have taken note. Thank you.

My apologies. But please just do not worry about submitting. I have your XML file and I have it on my to do list to see if we can just import them all in one go into Core! I just haven’t gotten too it.

Great many thanks for your quick response: I understand your explanation, also I’m not quite convinced. What gets me really confused here is that Movies Mobile behaves as I would expect it (which is different from Movies WEB): When I submit from Movies Mobile, the sumbit WEB screen (which opens in Safari) shows in the Audio Tracks section first all the already available Audio Tracks and completes the list with ā€œmy local dataā€ followed by a ā€œ+ā€ sign next to them. By pressing ā€œ+ā€ it becomes a ā€œ(verified sign)ā€ and seems to then add ā€œmy local dataā€ to the above list of already available Audio tracks in your Core Data. So there is no need to pick it out of a set list of languages. Why would there be a different behavior in Movies WEB?

Just to be clear: when I try to submit from Movies WEB, in the Audio Tracks section my audio tracks are not shown at all, so I do not understand the statement ā€œThe user can submit and indeed local data is taken usually from your movie and put above the fields, for you to then click, and later submit.ā€

Can you show me this with screenshots because I am confused now as well?

Please show the submit screen from mobile and from web.

With the same movie.

(but again, I have all your data, and I’m still planning to just drop that into our movies anyway)

The movie BIG FISH has no Audio Track data in Core: here is the comparison between en Submit within Movies Mobile and Movies WEB. The first screen is a screenshot from my PC, the 2 following screens were taken on the ipad.

Thank you.

Alright so it seems there is indeed a bug/difference in submitting audiotracks between the mobile app and the Web-app.

We have put it on our list to look into, but for now I do not have a solution here.

Suggestion on my side: if you would indeed prefer that audio tracks are always submitted by selecting normalized data within the input field, the minimal requirement would be to show the origin audio tracks (local) as text only directly above/below the audio track input field. So the User can see what audio tracks he needs to add based on what he already has in local.

This should now be fixed so you can now submit from the web-app and see the same results as you would get in the mobile app when submitting.

It might be good to post about your submissions, or let @CLZ_Martin know you’re submitting (good!) media level information

Great news, thank you. Now, hereā€˜s what I intend to do, please correct me if Iā€˜m wrong: i have now a film collection called ā€šMovies’ where all Data is organized and all my front and back covers are ok. BUT in that first collection, the Audio tracks and subtitles are missing. Therefor after your fix, I uploaded a second time my XML into a second collection called ā€šProfilerā€˜ which now contains also a copy of all the film data and specifically all audio and subtitles track from my Profiler XML. NOW I would use that Profiler collection to submit one by one via Movies WEB ONLY the audio track and subtitles which are MISSING in Core for each specific MediaID. Like that I would contribute to enhance Core Data and for each film I can make the right decision while adding. After my changes are integrated in Core(by your team), I will then later on update (in one step) my Movies collection with missing Audio/subtitle data. All this will take time, we are talking 2200+ items.

I’m first checking if I can just import your audiotracks/subtitle (well, the missing ones) data from the XML you sent us into our online core database. Let me just work on that first, could be into next week before I’m sure. That way I can work with our content managers to make sure the data is treated as correct. Just give me some time, please

Great, looking foward to here from you. In the mean time, I will identify my movies where MediaID is missing and see if I can submit them as new items to Core. I also want to let you know that over the last couple of Weeks, I already submitted one by one (good) back cover images for all my animated movies and seperatly also their audio and subtitles tracks (when missing). Is there a way to identify if those informations were already treated on your side?

I believe @CLZ_Martin has already processed your submissions.
You could check by going to Add Movies and find one and see.

And:

It might be good to post about your submissions, or let @CLZ_Martin know you’re submitting (good!) media level information
