Episode Infos dissapeared / Sync problem between Mobile App and Desktop App

Updated Mobile App to newest Version 10.0.1 on iOS.
Added Epsiodes to a Series on Apple device.
Added quite some amount of text to the Notes.
After syncing the Apple device, I opened Movie Collector 23.3.5 on PC.
Synced Movie Collector on PC.
Episodes are a not there. Notes field is completely empty.
Question: Is the new version of Movies MobileApp not compatible with the Desktop version anymore? Or is this a bug?

For testing sake I edited one Episode on the Desktop App as there are more possibilities to add infos in the Desktop Version.
Synced everything again.
After I synced the Apple device, all! the Episodes in the Mobile App dissapeared and all the Text in the Notes field dissapeared as well. The new Information entered in the Desktop App doesn’t appear on the Mobile App either. So syncing direction Desktop → Mobile works just by deleting everything and Mobile → Desktop doesn’t work at all? Bummer that all the Text I inserted “painstakeingly” on the iPhone is gone but more important:
Is this a bug of the new Version of the Mobile App or the way it is going to be with the Desktop App no longer really further developped and the push to use the Web-App?

Thanks for some clarification on the matter from the CLZ Team.

Custom episodes are a feature for CLZ Movies Mobile and CLZ Movies Web.

Custom episodes do not sync to or from the old Windows version. It is unlikely this will ever happen as development for the Windows version has stopped.

We might, at some point in the future (if demand is high) allow a one time export from Windows to Cloud for your custom episodes (but they will not sync down to Windows) - basically a sort of import for if someone want to trade their Windows version for the Web version and they wish to have their custom episodes into the Web/Mobile version.

The choice of not syncing custom episodes between Windows and Cloud isn’t a push to get people to go Web, it’s just that the Windows program isn’t developed anymore.

However: what you are seeing (episodes gone) might be because the episodes were changed to “custom” on your mobile app, and when syncing from Windows, that goes awry.

I recommend not using custom episodes in mobile at all if you are actively changing stuff there.

However, Notes also disappeared you say? Is this the regular movie notes field that went empty? Is this something you can reproduce, if you use a regular movie entry, and not tinker with episodes?

I’ve been vigorously trying to reproduce the problem where the notes field goes empty - but I simply can’t reproduce it where my notes field goes empty, no matter if I set episodes to custom on web or not (and then sync with Windows).

If you can send me a clear step-by-step on what I can do to reproduce the issue where notes go empty on Windows?

Hi AJ,
thank you very much for your fast response.
I thought so that it has to do with the different developments of the different apps.
As I see it, I can change the Episodes on the Mobile App and the change wont go to the Desktop App. Only the CORE infos sync up. The one thing I must not do is to make any changes on the Desktop app. Not even unrelated to episodes. If I do, the episodes in the Mobile apps change back to the CORE infos. Thats unfortunate and I have to decide for my self if it is helpful for what I wanted to use the Series-Function for.
The Notes not syncing ist a problem with unusual Characters. So essentially my own fault.
I used some characters from a Characters App on my iPhone to be able to use bold text in the Notes field and apparently those create problems. Everything after such a character will not sync. And because the first word was written in such characters nothing would sync. If I write normal text the Notes sync as expected.
To sum it up I have to think about it if I want to switch to the Web-based App in the future.
For the Movies I have, I think the Web based version won’t be a huge change. It is another story with Series. Is there a plan to expand the capabilities to enter more Infos for Series Episodes on the Web Based version and the Mobile App as it was possible on the Desktop Version?
Thank you for your help.

I understand. Basic HTML should work for notes by the way if you want to make stuff bold/italic stuff like that.

Well, this was already quite a big one for episodes, however, I understand you want to add a lot more extra stuff  - what are we talking about here? What kind of data are you entering? We’re always open to suggestions for extra fields.

That’s cool to know. Thanks.

What would be cool to be able to add is Plot by Episode not only for the full season (Movie).
Also Cast and Crew. Especially Guest Actors per Episode.

But if I may, and that ist not series specific, please add Editor as crew.
On the desktop there is at least two more “Credit” available but not on the Mobile App.
It would be super if we could add as many Crew and name the function like a Pick List.
But I guess thats too complex to than sync with CORE and IMDB?
I think there is also not that much demand for such detailed entries to invest so much time in programming. I get it.

I work for a Post Production company and for my own easy acces to all our episodes information i am trying to find a database where I can input as much information per episode. I am not good enough to programm my own database and thought I would try workling with what I can use on CLZ. Espacially with the new function in the new update.

Thanks a lot for your help and support.
I wish you a great week-end.

Thank you for your suggestion, I’ve taken note. And the reasoning is clear too

Have a great weekend!
