Hello folks!
I really like to keep my books in the same collection but having facsimiles, reprints, foils, etc. mixed in with the originals can make things a little confusing, especially when I want to quickly see if I have an issue but can’t immediately tell which kind it is, if I do. Variant letters are ok but when you’re dealing with issues that can go up to and past variation AG… you get the idea. And if you’re looking strictly by cover images, that’s not helpful at all.
So I created the following cover adjustments.
With the current number of those types of books I have, that can take a bit of time.
Quite frankly sometimes the cover images of foils aren’t of actual foil covers. They don’t even look that great sometimes when they are. Also, facsimiles look very much like the originals (obviously) but with minor visual differences sometimes. It would be nice to quickly and easily identify these types of books compared to the originals.
That being said, are you able to do something similar for those types of books as you do graded books; have a bar across the top with either words or some symbol?
Here is what my method looks like on CLZ Mobile.
and CLZ Web
I don’t know if it’s possible to program a transparent PNG overlay of the cover but I know that with the look of my method you can’t miss it and you immediately know what it is. I sacrificed a portion of the cover simply because they aren’t the originals. And yes, I’m aware there are originals that have foil covers (and use holofoils, holograms, etc.). But I think the facsimile/foil visual distinction is valid just the same.
Anyhow, just something I wanted to throw your way and see if it sticks.
