I have the following issue. I create a wishlist from a particular volume but typically only want to get the direct or newsstand variants, it doesn’t matter to me. But, when I find a book and scan it and it’s the other variant than what I have saved in my wishlist, I’d love the ability to relink variant from the coverscan before adding to my collection. This way I don’t have to go back to my wishlist and delete the other variant.
Sorry it took a while to respond, we missed the post.
So you scan a cover of a book you already have on your wish list.
You try to add it, and at that point you wish the app to say:
- you already have a variant of this particular issue on your wish list, would you like to re-link that version to this variant you’re now trying to add?
Yes/No
If you tap YES, you will be asked if you wish to change the collection status of the existing issue to “In Collection” as well, or add it as new?
Perfect. Being able to switch variants at the add scan menu would save me the effort during conventions of going back into the prime database and removing the now duplicate book in a different variant. I can always go back at a later time and add a variant if I want it, but typically just want a copy of an individual story.
It would be a lot of popups though. But I can see the use. Would you agree the below covers what you would like to have?
First one:
“you already have a variant of this particular issue on your wish list, would you like to re-link that version to this variant you’re now trying to add?”
YES / NO
Yes would mean the second one would be:
You already have this item on your wish list, what would you like to do?
With the options:
Change collection status / Add as new
NO would mean it would just add it as a new variant.
When no is tapped
I agree that the fewer the pop ups the better. I don’t think it would be excessive. Perhaps the variable for this pop up can be set to only occur when that situation triggers to not be too excessive, since this is a specified case. Thanks for getting my feedback!
We have taken note of the idea here. The team is a little bit in doubt as it is an “out there” situation (most users seem to be very specific about which variants they’re adding to wish list//collection and usually have multiple of them in their database)
While we do get your request, it might be too much for most of our users - still we’ll keep it in mind, see if we can find a good way to implement something like this at some point, which is not intrusive at all to the masses.
I’d rather be honest than just say “it’s on the ideas list”
I hope you understand!
Absolutely. You have massive database management over several platforms. I’m just trying to see if I can push fewer buttons. Thanks for listening!
