This is kind of a niche request, but I think power users would greatly benefit: add a field for each series’ Grand Comics Database (GCD) series ID, ideally with a hyperlink (similar to the CovrPrice or eBay links we already get).
Seems doable: it’s one integer per series, and series rarely change, so there’s almost no storage or upkeep. A series ID plus the issue number Core already has lets users resolve the matching GCD issue on demand so it unlocks full cross-referencing without storing anything per issue.
And GCD data is CC BY 3.0 (commercial use is fine; linking satisfies attribution), so there should be no licensing snag.
That is a fun idea, we’ve taken note. For our reference, what would you do with the link, what would you use it for?
Would it be okay if it is just somewhere lower (where your normal user-links would be if you add them for a comic?) (hesitant to put it way up next to the cover, that’s valuable “screen real estate”)?
I’d use it to cross-reference my CLZ data against the GCD for information that Core doesn’t (yet) contain. For instance, this morning I downloaded my collection and looked up every issue that had Joe Kubert cover and then tagged those using your (awesome) custom fields. But most of the hard work was matching the series in the different databases carefully: once I had that map the rest was easy using some Python scripts. So having series-level verified matching identifiers would help a ton.
Man I’ve been clamoring just for a field titled print run - so many retailer incentives and exclusives. Much more useful and better field then say “owner” or even “my rating”
Really? I’m surprised. Rating ok I get that. But are there really that many people out there sharing and loaning books that would necessitate a log to track? I mean unless maybe if you’re a library hahaha.
Anyway, I’m not saying to get rid of it I’m just begging to please please please add “Print Run” to the personal tab. If you need real estate on the app, you could always make the “My Rating” field have the length and put the 1 out of 10 stars in a drop down.
I completely missed this option and my phone updates the app automatically. I don’t know how I could miss this but this was exactly what I was talking about. It’s perfect and even more options and ways you can set it you to your liking. Thank you for telling me!!
No I did not receive an email. I checked the spam folder too. When was it sent out? In the past, I get app updates whenever you post them to social media but maybe I missed this one? When did the feature go live?
