Feature Request: Merge into Single Database Entry

Hi CLZ team,

I’m preparing for a move and taking another closer look at my collection. And I came across a few movies that are part of a box set, which I have added as multiple items (per your KB article Add Box Sets as a single database entry - CLZ Movies Web - CLZ.com), but I decided that I wanted to have some titles as a single item as how they represent the actual physical article, since they are in 1 single packaging.

A good example is the Batman Animated Collection, which has 5 movies, but is contained in 1 quintuple case; compared to the Ice Age collection, which are 5 distinct single cases.

However, in the past I have added the Batman Animated Collection as multiple database entries. And using the “Edit Multiple Movies” option to add them to a Box Set only results them being listed as part of a box set, but still show as separate entries.

In order for me to have them in 1 single entry I need to remove all the separate entries, and add/scan the collection again, but this time choose to add it as a single entry.

So to make this a little easier I would like to submit a feature request: add a new entry to the Rightclick context menu when you have multiple titles selected: “Merge into Single Entry” or “Merge into Box Set” or something similar.

I even created a quick mockup to illustrate:

Thanks for making these awesome products.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Sincerely,

Erwin

I’m afraid I have to disappint, I recommend to just add it again, as a single entry if that is your wish.

Merging movies would be weird too, as you have personal fields filled in, like you rated one of them 4, one of them 6, what would the end result be?
Same for all other fields.

That said: We have stopped the development of the legacy Collector desktop software quite a while ago (early 2023). There will not be any feature updates anymore, but we may still do maintenance/compatibility updates when absolutely necessary.

Our complete focus is on the CLZ Web web-based software and of course the CLZ mobile apps.
For use on your computer, the CLZ Web software is the way to go and we are recommending all desktop users to switch to the web-based software ASAP.

(But, merging movies into a single entry is also not in the cards for CLZ Movies Web though.. sorry!)

Hi AJ,

No worries. It was just more like a nice-to-have. It would make a few things a little bit easier.

I appreciate you getting back to me!

Kind regards,

Erwin
