I am new here and have been thoroughly enjoying the process of scanning my movies and updating the entries.
One of the few issues I have encountered with CLZ Movies Web is the lack of a dedicated field for spine #s. I would suggest you consider adding a text field (would provide greater flexibility than a numeric field) to your “Edition” tab for spine #s.
Two of the labels I collect, Criterion and Imprint (AU), both use spine #s to sequentially number their releases. Criterion currently runs from 1 to nearly 1300, and Imprint from 1 to about 500. The spine #s are physically printed on the packaging and are important in identifying items in the Criterion Collection and Imprint. Of course, there are probably other movie labels that do this as well.
Both Criterion and Imprint assign their numbers to a movie or multiple movies in a box set and not a particular release by format. For example, the Criterion release of the Seven Samurai (1954) is spine #2. That is true for their 1998, 1999 and 2006 DVD releases, their 2010 Blu-ray version, and 2024 4K UHD + Blu-ray set.
For Imprint, an example would be their spine #1, the War of the Worlds (1953). That movie is spine #1 for both the 2020 Imprint Blu-ray release and the later 2022 Imprint upgrade to 4K + Blu-ray.
After a lot of thought, my work around for Criterion is to create a single tag “CC Spine #” that I add to every Criterion movie with a spine # (a few Criterion releases do not have spine #s). I use the “CC Spine #” tag to filter those with a spine #. I add the actual spine #s in the “Notes” field (which I am not currently using) in the form of “CC-0001”, “CC-0002”, etc. After adding the “Notes” field as a display column in the main screen area, I can see the spine #s and sort by clicking the column header. I will probably do the same for Imprint once I start entering those.
The work around is okay, but things would be a lot easier if there was a text field for spine #s on the “Edition” tab.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering this suggestion sometime in the future.
