Feature Suggestion - Move items in batches using the barcode scanner / batch search using the scanner

As I understand the only way to currently move items is to edit the ‘location’ field?

Often I would like to move multiple items at once. Rather than searching each individual item and editing its location it would be really useful to be able to build up a list using the barcode scanning function then move that batch. Something like a ‘location management’ feature. You can do something like this using the current scanner if you are changing the status of items (you get a warning with the option to update rather than add new).

Even better than the above would be a more versatile means of searching for multiple items which would then allow the for batch editing of locations in addition to any other fields. For example the current search via barcode UI disappears after one search. It would be great to be able to use the barcode scanner to build a list (like the scanner UI when adding items) to then batch edit etc.

I don’t believe anything like this is currently available?

It is not available, but “selecting items” in your own collection by scanning barcode (and later do an “edit multiple” to edit any field, such as the location field) is indeed on the ideas list.
That would also help you do what you want to do!

Hi @CLZ_AJ thanks for you reply. Yes this sounds perfect. Is it formally on the roadmap? Any idea when it might be picked up for development?

Best wishes

I’m afraid I can’t tell you if it will definitely happen at this point, nor when. Sorry!
