Feature Suggestion: Release Date: Basic Sanity Checks & UX enhancements

I wanted to suggest adding some sort of checks when filling out album information (manually or through Core) to assist users e.g.

  • the release date always has to be equal or ‘newer’ than the original release date —> mark field red
  • If only the original release date is filled out / available, consider this (copy the value to) the release date and vice-versa.

In case the above is not possible I suggest at least considering both fields (use as “fallback scenario”) when sorting by (original) release date…

In my view, this would enhance UX on all platforms, at lesst for CLZ Music. What do you think?

I don’t think using a fallback would be something good if you don’t see it is actually using a fallback - although we could play by using an icon so you can see that it’s using a fallback - in that case it could be acceptable - and of course an extra setting should one not want this.

A copy button (2 ways) could be done, I’ll write that up as an idea.

Marking the field red is also possible, writing that one up too. Thank you.

Good point making the fallback visible :ok_hand:

Your implementation idea sounds great, maybe two arrows between the fields as pictured: ?

at least on my phone (iPhone Pro 11), the date fields still have a bit of space to spare.

Thank you!
