[Fixed] TMNT Adventures

Hi guys,
Not new to CLZ, but new to the forum.
I cataloged around 3500 of my books some years back, but seems like there have been a lot of additions and improvements to accuracy since then, so I’ve been in the process of giving things a once-over. Been submitting things via Submit To Core, but recently found this place, so figured I’d jump in.

Regarding Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures, the series ran via Archie through issue 72. In the last few years, issues 73-79 have been published via a new publisher, Turtle Club.

Some of these appear to be in Core under the title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures: The Forever War, but this is incorrect. “The Forever War” is a story arc; the book remains titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures. (Some of those issues only show up in Core as ashcans, but there are proper issues published).

I’m not sure what the best way to proceed would be, but precedent would suggest grouping these into the main series, since the title has not changed and the numbering carries on from 72. Ninja Turtles Vol. 3 was published by Image through issue 23; issue 24 and 25 were released by a new publisher two decades later, but are included in the same series listing (with a new publisher listed). Similarly, Tales Of The TMNT ran through issue 70 via Mirage Studios, and much later, issue 71 was published, but it too is included with the other 70 issues.

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures: The Forever War’ has been added as a series to Core because the issues in it have been independently published. I’d rather keep them listed the way they are now.

Please know you are free to list them any which way you prefer in your local database.
Thank you for reporting.

Understood, but would be nice to have some consistency with this stuff.

Tales 71 is independently published (by the same person) and yet grouped with the main series.

Vol. 3 24 and 25 are independently published (again, same person) and you also grouped those in the main series.

Are you referring to #71 of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures, Vol. 2’?

If so, the frontcover says ‘Archie Adventure Series’ and the regular, the newsstand and the canadian price variant all have barcodes listed on them. The barcodes are built in a consecutive order. With this in mind this series and its location works better.

I checked the issues #24 and #25 and I think I see what you mean.

However - and I’m not trying to come over as difficult, so bear with me - but for this situation I believe it works better to include them IN the series.

No, I was referring to Tales Of The TMNT (Vol. 2), issue 71. That issue was also published independently (by this same person), but you have it lumped in there with 1-70 that were published by Mirage. Same scenario.

Regarding the Archie issues, “The Forever War” is simply a 5-issue story arc (not a series title), and the publisher is continuing beyond that story arc, so listing the series as “The Forever War” in core doesn’t make any sense. (In fact, the two latest issues you’ve got in there are already part of another story arc called “How It All Began” - totally unrelated to Forever War). No argument on my end and not trying to be difficult either, truly. I’ll adjust my library locally on my end. But there are even more issues of this series coming, none of which have anything to do with The Forever War, so I imagine at some point this will end up being revisited.

Thanks for looking into it.

Ah, thank you for pointing that out.
I have created a new series in Core, titled it ‘Tales of the TMNT (Illusion Studios)’ and moved the issue.

Furthermore I edited the series title '‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures: The Forever War’ to ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures (Turtles Club)’.

I used ‘Turtles Club’ to help differentiate it from the official series. Also, I used The Forever War for the Story Arc fields.

Thank you for your explanation. Feel free to let me know if I missed anything.

Great solution! Thank you! Only thing I might add is doing the same for Turtles Vol. 3, the Image series. It officially ended at issue 23 - the last two issues (24 and 25) were published by Andrew Modeen, unofficially concluding the series.

The image of issue 24 in core shows an Image logo - I have no idea how or why, but it’s a fake. The actual issues look like this (and were published in May, 2011 and February, 2012, respectively).

Anyway, thanks Rowdy for the good solution and for hearing me out on this.
