Using CLZ comics web, I modified 4 fields for 634 records while only intending to modify them for a different set of records. What is the easiest way to restore the information that was in those fields? Can someone help?
I have a back-up from 2022. I thought I had a more recent one but only a small portion of records were downloaded.
I also pay for mobile CLZ. I do not autosync. I have not synced since this mistake.
Sorry to hear that. I see you have a pretty big collection.
I understand you made the mistake on CLZ Comics Web.
I understand you do not sync.
Since you do not sync, what you could do is “clear the cloud” and then sync all comics UP from your mobile device. It will take very long, but it is possible.
Here’s how that would work: Please read the “important” bit below the steps before you do anything.
Open the app menu, and choose Sync with CLZ Cloud to open the Sync screen.
At the bottom left, click the “Clear CLZ Cloud” button and confirm.
Now sync with CLZ Cloud to upload all your data to the CLZ Cloud again.
Important: If you use more mobile devices, then on all those OTHER devices you have to clear the database and downsync everything.
Thank you for the response. Good to know there is an automated method to correct my error. I bulled my way ahead the slow method by entering the data manually. I’m nearly done so will continue with that approach. All in all, about 6 hours of work, taking time to not make mistakes. I turned my phone to Plane Mode to avoid any chance of changing the database there, and used it’s set of information to update CLZ Comics Web. One thought I had was that a prompt before making a change, informing me, “Making changes to 15000 records. Continue?” and then Yes or No would have alerted me and I would have chosen No. Then again, that constant prompt requiring a click each time is a road bump rather than a streamlined approach. Thanks!
So like when using Edit Multiple? And then a warning on save there?
Well it could have a “don’t show again” - but at that “save point” you’ve already made a selection, you’ve set fields, you’re working on it. It feels like that’s very far in the process before realizing you selected 15000 items - but I do guess it can happen. I’ll keep it in mind!
Forget my suggestion maybe. I finished that data reload and began making changes to other records and I see that it just asked me if I want to make changes to 17 records. The problem is not the system but the user!
