Hide Price in Shared Collection?

Hi -

I was trying to see if I could do this but didn’t easily find anything…thought I’d check here to see if I missed it!

I like to share my collection of movies online with the personal information turned on for the location part (e.g. movie X is in Box #3), but I’d rather keep the purchase price part hidden.

Is it possible to share some of the personal fields but not all of them?

Thanks for any help!

JVS

I’m afraid it’s not possible to indicate exactly which fields are hidden when you use the “Partial” option in Sharing.

When using Partial, all personal fields will be hidden from people who are checking out your collection.

Alternatively you could make your collection Private, and then generate a special URL for some people to use (that would still show the Purchase Price though, but at least not anyone can randomly find your collection online, perhaps that’s something that would help).

I’ve taken note of your request to be able to specify exactly which fields are shown or hidden!

@CLZ_AJ thanks for the response!

Yeah, would be neat if I could make selective fields in that Personal section “private” and then let the others be available when it’s public.

how do you go about creating “a special URL” … is that a provision in the software (and is it also in the desktop version)?

It’s under the “CLZ Cloud Sharing” in the main menu.

Well sharing online is done on app.clz.com (or cloud.clz.com ) where you can log in, and then open the menu top left, then go to CLZ Cloud Sharing

In there, you can set your collection to Private, and when private, you can generate a “Private Sharing” link, like so:

thanks … but you have to accept the generated URL – correct?

also, seeing above screen with multiple collections (my comics only has one collection) I logged into my CLZ Books where I have multiple collections, and yes I see a display similar to that shown above … though for EACH “sub”-collection “tab” within my entire collection, I also see the Private, Partial, and Public choices; probably because it is currently Public.
… is there a manual or FAQ somewhere that I missed
that discusses these choices (and the resulting behavior)
for the CLZ Cloud?

however, the public sharing, or the private sharing functionality of the CLZ Cloud and the associated URL is still only associated with my entire content (correct?) and I cannot generate a separate private URL for each of my listed collections (what I now tend to refer to as “sub-collections”).

That would be a very nice feature across all CLZ applications (so I guess this would be a general feature request for CLZ Cloud for all apps).

thanks in advance for the clarification,
—Wayne

“thanks … but you have to accept the generated URL – correct?”

I’m not sure what you mean here?

though for EACH “sub”-collection “tab” within my entire collection, I also see the Private, Partial, and Public choices; probably because it is currently Public.

Indeed.

You can use Manage Collections from the menu to make your some collections private, and some public or partial.

Private collections can not be seen on your shared cloud link.

Manage Collections manual:

Sharing Collections manual:

I just meant I cannot supply the URL for a private collection … the URL that is generated is what must be used.

thanks for the manual references, I had already looked at those, but still did not clarify what I was looking for. I will “play around” with different settings for the sub-collections then look as a public viewer (not logged in).

what are your thoughts about being able to designation a private URL for each individual sub-collection? It would be a nice way to improve sharing aspect …

thanks,
—Wayne

Hm, no, you can’t modify the exact URL. I’ve taken note of your wish to be able to do that.

While I get the wish, and I will take note of it, we get so little support questions on sharing in private that I’m not sure if this is a big thing. Still, shouldn’t be too hard to develop!
