How to modify "date added"

Hi,

I read that it is not possible to remove the “date added” field, but can it be edited? When duplicating an album, the original date added is also copied, but then it looks like I added this album years ago, not today. I would expect the date added field of the duplicate to reflect the date of duplication, which would make sense.

Cheers,

Leo

It can not be modified, it is an internal field that you can only view in your collection. I’m afraid it is also not up for change, it will not become a user field.

Duplication indeed duplicates that add date too. If you don’t want it, I would just add it as a new album, and fill in the fields. Or use like Purchase Date as a field for when you got the album?

I would vote for a bug. If you duplicate, the duplication is added today. Not a year ago. Modified should also be set to today.

Makes the most sense in my opinion

I was afraid that would be the answer. The whole point of duplicating is NOT having to fill in al those fields again. Purchase Date, by definition, is not necessarily the same as date added. Would it be awfully difficult to implement to at least not include the original Added Date field and, preferably, use TODAY as the default value for that field when duplicating an album? I mean, the whole point of having these variousfields is to accurately reflect differences, isn’t it?

I recently acquired a French pressing of CSNY’s Deja Vu in a white gatefold cover, so I duplicated the original US version acquired many years ago. The new entry now says that I purchased it in 2026 but that it was added to my collection somewhere in the 1970s. I guess that in a philosophical sense this could even be considered correct, but still… Anyway, purchase date is of more informational value than added date.

I’m sorry, you guys, this is indeed a bug. I was confused. On iPad it actually sets it to “today” for both added and modified.

I will mark it up as a bug for fixing.

(it will still not be a field to become editable, but this will solve the issue for future albums you duplicate)
