Is there no way to universally have sort ignore when a title starts with ‘The’ &/or ‘A’, or is this a feature being considered? I know we can change sort name to omit these but that gets tedious manually doing book by book.
On mobile here is not. It is on our ideas list to implement something for this.
For most of our databases we already strip that “the” from titles. Some of our sources already do this for books, but sometimes not. We’ll see if we can perhaps modify that to make it happen automatically - or have settings in place where you can set this up.

In our other software we’ve never had a “do this for all” option (except in Manage Pick Lists - but that doesn’t pertain titles).
We used to have a button for it to do it “per book” in our Windows software.
